I'm noticing a lot of lag in the site last couple of days.
Different networks, different devices, same lag.
Just me?

I've been seeing this for several weeks. Now, instead of lag time, I'm getting actual 'can't load' errors, though they only last a few seconds.
Yeah, I've been seeing that too. But for me, it's been like this for a very long time--it's just very intermittent. Now, instead of lag time, I'm getting actual 'can't load' errors, though they only last a few seconds.
I’ve also been aware of it for a few months. Seems especially slow to complete the loading of moving avatars. Didn’t we have a revamp some time back? Is it connected with that?I'm noticing a lot of lag in the site last couple of days.

No. Specific to SciFo.Never noticed any slowness with this site. Could some of this just be vagaries of particular broadband services? (I ask because the broadband we have here is kind of "overbuilt" - it is serving a low population region of the US with recently built infrastructure meant to handle longterm growth)
Ads?Okay, the forums took a while to load last night (on my phone) but what did load quickly were several ads. I’m wondering if this is the issue - the number of ads taking up space on the main page lately, is overwhelming.
When this occurs, I can see the site, but the forums aren’t showing up - only parts of the site load, and the page is covered with a bunch of ads. I’m not able to login when this happens.Ads?
If you are getting ads you are not logged in.
It's not the ads.
Yes, this was a distinct (though possibly related) issue. When this occurs, I can see the site, but the forums aren’t showing up - only parts of the site load, and the page is covered with a bunch of ads. I’m not able to login when this happens.
I've gotten that one too, not often, but more often than one might expect.Yes, this was a distinct (though possibly related) issue.
When I logged in last night I got the header but no threads could be found. I just got a generic 'we can't load this content' message. I assume James R is aware of this but it's resolved now.
This may have the same root cause as the site lag, but they are two distinct symptoms.
It may be coincidental, but I can't help but think the influx of ads has something to do with it. Even when I'm logged in on my phone, different sections of the forum are split because of so many of them. I get it, SF needs to pay the bills, but it's just food for thought.Yes, this was a distinct (though possibly related) issue.
