Sex and gender, and when to apply them.

This is a very controversial topic, when chaos is the rule rather than solving the several issues coming from the application of these two words in our society.

In appearance, these two words sex and gender mean the same for many. But, even when most people and perhaps dictionaries relate them as synonimous. Point is that such is not what happens in reality and is practically a duty to work on it, so people can be taugh in a clear way about their differences.

After their differences are settled, their correct understanding might finally solve the ethics, morality and justice errors involved when laws are made.

My proposal is starting with de proper definitions of those words, Later, how to apply those in minors and adults, and so forth.

Part of the questionnaire for check-in at the local hospital asks "gender assigned at birth?".

And, my son had a student who preferred the pronoun "they" when referring to herself.

Not at all. It is useful for a hospital to know if the patient has medical records under a different gender. Same reason they ask you "have you ever donated under a different name?" when you go to donate blood.

As for blood donations the relevant information is how many donations the donor has given? ie are they donating to obtain money or food etc

Sure, they're at fault. But hospitals are used to dealing with forgetful/incompetent/neglectful patients, so they ask.

I had a trans employee once and she was often unsure when the hospital needed to know, so she always waited to be asked before volunteering the information.

As for blood donations the relevant information is how many donations the donor has given? ie are they donating to obtain money or food etc

Nope. More importantly it's to find out whether they have (say) HIV which was discovered in a previous donation attempt. (I've donated 11 gallons over the course of my life - never had anyone wonder if I was getting paid.)

As for being paid I have only seen that in the movies from America. Does not happen Australia. Again years ago you could have a small beer, now coffee or tea or perhaps soft drink with a biscuit is your choice

Sure there is. Surgery can change one's biology. (Ask anyone who has a heart valve replaced if modern medicine can change how their biological form works.)

Behavior? No. Society? Yes. In our society, since we believe in personal freedom, we give that decision to the individual. I imagine in countries with limited personal freedom they probably just assign one.

There are very few real hermaphrodites out there.

However, there are a lot (tens of thousands) of people with AIS. These are people who are genetically male but biologically female. In some cases they go their whole lives without knowing. This once became an issue because a woman who was competing in the Olympics was tested - and it was discovered that she was genetically male.

many people cant deal with that reality

it causes serious mental health problems with long term abuse issues

an easy way to define the depth of the indentured psychological damage would be to grab a random group of people of mixed ages & genders
& have them all stand in a room
then ask them all to completely undress & change into a different set of clothes.

From billions of billions of people the ever populated earth, the number of hermaphrodites seems not to have such an impact to remove the bases of biology with respect to two established and well identified sexes in humans.

You have brought a good point, because this is a case where can have both sexes biological chatracteristics since birth. Take note that you can't call to this status as normal.

For example, if a person is norn without hsands, such is called birth defect. If someone askd if that is normal, the biology studies will say is not normal, or if from here the family of this person is born without hands, then this is inherited mutation, still is not normal when compared to general population but is normal for the mutation to pass from one member to the descendants.

Anyway, when we have cases of hermaphrodites, and they must decide -if they want to- what sex to keep as their identity, they do have a biological justification for such decision. This is because they carry boological charateristics that belong to both sexes, as the example given in a message above, the an athlete had the physical body of a woman but the genes were of a man.

Here she really can say she is a man inside a woman's body... lol.

And I will believe her. Sure I will.

This is because there is evidence, it is not in the mind of the atlete alone.

humans are incapable from being both fully functional genders with reproductive organs
there has only been a very small number with dual functioning organs
1 of which got themself pregnant apparently
but the pregnancy was aborted.

so all humans born with both sexual organs always have surgery to allow them to function in one gender range in the hope they will be capable of breeding or being capable of participating sexually with other people.

you should know this type of stuff already if your debating the subject
