Phone call - call back no. 800-549-5301. Claims that Windows has expired. Checked on reverse phone directory - many calls - considered scam. I believe Microsoft communicates only by e-mail, not by phone.

I think you'd find the guy at the other end to be in some phone pit in India. I got a call some time ago from an earnest "gentleman" who insisted that my Windows PC had issues that they'd detected, (via the ether, no doubt).

I asked them what my IP address was when they wanted remote access, but they couldn't tell me that. Wonder why not?

I told the fool that I'm a sysadmin, I don't use Windows, that all the Internet-exposed machines on my address were running Linux, and called him a scamming beef-eating son-of-a-bitch.

What joy I felt when he started yelling and cursing me as I hung up.

The calls from the irs are especially amusing. There's a comedian on youtube who trolls them pretty hard...

Beef eating???

I hitched on that for a moment, too, then remembered he was talking about India, so .. I don't know. Maybe it's a coincidence, and thus I have no idea. I mean, he's probably not calling the guy a Yeoman Warder. Wait a minute, tomatoes? Oh, wait, no, that's beefsteak.
