This thread is started with a racist agenda. And the racist participants of this thread are trying to bullshit their brainless ideas by introducing a fake cloak of pseudoscience. If we can even call it pseudoscience, because it is just a list of unrelated numbers and percentages.

Anyone with any statistical training can see through this crap.

About the guy who composed that statistical treatment in that link I provided:
Where did he make these mistakes you claimed that he has made? Surely you can explain to us where, which statement or calculation, that he committed the mistake(s). With your statistical training, you can surely point them out to us. I have some statistical training, and I can't seem to find these errors.

Calling this all pseudoscience is a pretty strong statement on your part. Can you please provide some support for that statement. Thank you.

Calling everybody a racist provides no support for any argument. The premise advanced by Baron Max and a few others is that cities with a lot of black folks also have high incidences of violent crime. Some statistics have been introduced here that support that premise. Can you provide some support for an alternate premise? Please provide some evidence of any kind that will refute this premise. You and Monkey have been unable to do so. Calling other people racists because they provide evidence is not providing any support for your argument.

What do you mean, Duendy? That answer you gave makes no sense.

Your position seems to be that there is no relationship between the percent of blacks in a city and the rate of violent crime. Here is another link that provides more evidence to support that:

No special vision. No aim. Just looking at the world as it really is. Don't want to deny reality. One should not deny reality just because they don't like the reality.

It's a shame, in my opinion, that there is so much crime in those cities. And, it's a shame that so many blacks are the perpetrators and victims of violent crime. But, pretending that it isn't so isn't going to change the reality.

What makes that statistical treatment a farce? Can you be more specific?


As a matter of fact, the author of those papers welcomes comments I understand. If you go back to that link, you can click on a spot near the beginning and get his email address. Would you be so kind as to clear all of this up and email him and tell him how is analysis is wrong? Maybe you could paste a copy of that email here for us so that I can also see how this is a farce.
 
We've done this before. Crime usually correlated with poverty. Cities with slum areas tend to have more crime. No real surprises there. Nothing to do with race, per se.

That's very true, James, however in the US povertyis a racial issue. While there are many Caucasians living below the poverty line, it doesn't even compare percentage-wise with others. So, unfortunately, both poverty and crime become racial matters because the three are inexplicably intertwined. And just as you've inferred, when poverty is reduced, crime also goes down. Why? Because more of the needs of the minorities are being satisfied.

Yeah, we've done this before ...and had the same results! As I've asked several times in the past:

If poverty is the/a cause of high violent crime, then why aren't WHITE areas with high poverty, like West Virginia and Kentucky, high violent crime areas?

James, you can hide your head in the sand and refuse to see the problem as it is, but it becomes difficult to actually explain that opinion with statistics and facts.

Just as Light has posted above, high violent crime rates IS a racial issue! There are areas of high rates of WHITE/NON-BLACK poverty all over the world, but with low rates of violent crime. Refusing to admit it only prevents finding methods of helping the black people or attepting to reducing the crime.

Helping black people? This whole premise of this thread appears to me, to be "look at what black people are doing, aren't they inferior to us whites?"

And is that not the added problem that results in this lower class we see in American society today?

Well, it's like a lot of things/posts ...you can read into it whatever you want.

How I interpreted it was ...oh, look, there seems to be a problem here -- why? What is it? What can we do to fix it? How much will it cost? What changes must be made? And who will provide the needed money/effort to fix it? And probably equally important, why should SOME people have to pay their hard-earned money to help others? ...don't seem fair, does it? And if not, how do we get around that ideal of "fair"?

Well, perhaps it is. And if that's true, and people don't like being in the lower class, why don't they work to get out of it and into the middle class? Many others have done it, so I know it can be done.

Why are they like that? I'm no expert but I think it has something to do with the disadvantage they had when they came over and had to fight for equal rights and now that they (sort of) have that, they find themselves with another disadvantage of living in poverty.

The Bush administration is not going to improve on this. If I am right, the gap between rich and poor has got worse under Bush, and I am not surprised. He is more interested in global domination than domestic policy. Even if he was more focussed on addressing the gap between rich and poor, I doubt his whole righteous christian morals and sheriff attitude would have much sympathy to help people out of poverty.

Being black in America where whites are successful and often racist towards black people, will lead to a feeling of being ousted from society. How do you think black people in America felt seeing all those black people suffering in New Orleans whilst all the whites got in their SUV's and escaped danger? We can debate wether or not anything could have been done for them but the fact remains, it strengthened the whole philosophy of 'us and them'.
 
Ahh, Kenny, even if I agreed completely with your post, it does NOT explain why so many more blacks resort to violent crime as compared to equally povety-stricken whites. Without making that comparison, without studying that issue, then to make the statement the poverty causes high rates of crime is just false and irresponsible. If you want to help the blacks, then one must face ALL of the facts in order to make proper judgements/evaluations.

As to prejudice and feelings of being ousted by society, I'd say a similar issue occurs with the "poor, white trash" as well. Thus, again, why aren't places like the poverty-stricken West Virginia areas experiencing the same/similar high rates of violent crime?

I would also ask .....just how long are the blacks gonna' use those "excuses" for not becoming "all they can be"? Is it just easier to keep blaming the whites, then getting more and more handouts from the whites? We keep making excuses, but perhaps that's one of the reasons that blacks haven't gotten as far as they should?
