Luckily I'm not still in France and my keyboard doesn't have the accent aigu mark. You can get the guillotine but not ice or a/c. Strange country...
 
Yes, silly. IMOATOOMOP. Might call it "incomplete leaps of faith for the faint-hearted." A better wager might have been, "empirically there seems no way to determine if there is a God or not, so I wager that if there is one, It is not going to punish me for honestly saying I just don't know when I just don't know." Of course such a wager probably would have been unlikely, given Pascal's conversion to devout Catholicism and the Jansenist sect.

It is the "hedging ones bets," wager.

An honest god if he exists will say, "Well, I did leave very sketchy evidence, no wonder Pinball rejected me. Breaks my heart to burn the bastard in hell forever but what can I do man? Rules are fucking rules."
 
It's more or less, if there is a god, I should believe and if there isn't one, I'll be delusional for my entire life.
