Question about anti venom

I understand snake anti venom is derived from the venom of same type of snake to counter it's effects. How does this work, and is CBD a possible counter to anxiety driven psychosis sometimes associated with THC?

I've watched the milking processes up close and personal. I was asking a specific about a plant compound and possible relevancies. Google is not my friend. Google scholar maybe, but not Google.

Why not read this?:-

Interestingly, there is a comment that CBD can “modulate” the effect of THC when both are present. There also seems to be some research into whether CBD could have anti-psychotic properties, with no findings to date.

The upshot, for now, seems to be that there is no evidence CBD can work in the way you are asking about.

That's why I asked the question. I know it works, but the science seems to be missing. Comparing it to snake venom and anti venom, I am curious as to whether or not they can be compared realistically and scientifically. If so, why haven't they?

No the two are not comparable. Venom is a complex mixture of toxic proteins, in reaction to which the production of antibodies can be stimulated. These antibodies are used as the antivenom serum.

THC and CBD are simple chemical compounds, that have no mutually antagonistic role in the plant they are derived from.

I'll simply disagree. Plant toxicity and reptilian toxicity are comparable.

Are there any plants which contain compounds which are mutually antagonistic? To my knowledge, thebaine has more stimulant properties than morphine, and virtually no analgesic attributes, but it is in no sense a proper antagonist.

Probably not. What would be the reason for a plant to evolve with two components that reacted together to neutralise their activity?

I'm just speculating here, but what about as a way to limit population growth within environments where essential nutrients--whether that be sunlight, fluids, whatever--are scarce?

Well I admit I am no biologist. Maybe it’s possible.

But at any rate there’s no reason to think such a relationship exists between CBD and THC. One can see that from the shape of the molecules, which resemble one another very closely. In fact CBD can be converted to THC by an intramolecular cyclisation reaction.

If this isn't a matter of chemical compounds, and irrelevant according your understanding, perhaps I should try biology. I'd like to explore this premise in more depth. Chemistry is a great place to start the data collection and process documentation if it hasn't already been accomplished.

I became paranoid and anxious on THC. I ended up with a anxiety disorder, including social and bipolar. CBD has proven to me to be effective in countering this disorder. It's already legal
in all 50 states, so I think more scientific backing would be useful.

Toxicity of a chemical compound . It works with snake venom. Why not cannabis?

It may be that CBD helps you in some way. I can’t contradict you authoritatively. What I am pointing out is there is no mechanism resembling how a venom antidote works. That is the question you were asking.

So if it works, that would have to be by some other unrelated mechanism.

CBD being effective with anxiety, bipolar, etc. does not necessarily make it an antagonist to THC though--just a compound with slightly different properties. With certain compounds (or drugs), you need an actual antagonist to counter the effects--in the same way that naloxone is antagonistic to various opiates and opioids. Snake venom, as Exchemist noted, is a complex mix of proteins--countering this is a very different matter.

I'll disagree again. You can isolate CBD and genetically manipulate a stain to produce hemp. We know this much. That's about the same as anti venom being isolated from venom as a compound.

My physiology isn't suited for THC. It became toxic to my system. CBD is an effective counter and helps alleviate the effects that occured after prolonged use of THC, namely anxiety which evolved into social anxiety. I still suffer from social anxiety today. CBD helps.

This does not make much sense. But I’ve given you my opinion and if you don’t like it, that’s entirely up to you.
