Protests / riots in LA - thoughts?

ICE is trying to round up illegal immigrants. Whether you support that policy or not, that is the current policy of this admin. No admin is going to let a crowd turn the government back. Would you expect ICE to just go away and tell Trump "we can't enforce those policies in LA because the crowds won't let us?"
No, I'd expect Trump to give up on telling them to do that if it results in him losing popularity (and hence power.) Consider how the Vietnam war ended - it became too unpopular for any politician to continue to support.

In this case, it's not that unpopular. Only in illegal immigrant communities/businesses. It could happen but the country isn't up in arms as was the case with Vietnam. With no draft even Vietnam wouldn't have been such an issue. Afghanistan lasted 18 years.

@Tiassa - just another sick-f*ck a-hole who thinks they know me but never will.

Well, we can only hope this isn't the real you.

I also know about riots and bad policing. I went through the 60's with both experiences.
When... ... ... people post shit like this, what exactly are we supposed to make of it?

Yeah, I saw fucking Star Wars. I know all about space travel. And?

And then they called the Guard out when people started become violent and damaged property. Like today.
Or this shit for that matter. Can't even be bothered with the correct verb tense--guess maybe that's the icing on top of saying precisely nothing at all.

Trump is hoping for a Kent State he can rally conservatives behind.
Yeah. As tactical gambits go, it's a pretty solid move too--though I'd credit someone like Stephen Miller, maybe, for the idea, clearly not The Rapist. Rallying conservatives is pretty much guaranteed, but testing the willingness of people who are slightly less blindly submissive to authority, i.e., the National Guard, is sensible prior to deploying those historically more blindly submissive, the rest of the armed forces.

They'll continue to flood us with bullshit and incompetence, while gradually introducing these clearly better thought out maneuvers over time.

I'm guessing your would like to have your property protected if it was in danger?
This weekend's protests are not the Rodney King riots. My priorities in any case would be protecting people - all people. House protection a lower priority. I don't really want the State smashing skulls or firing bullets on behalf of my sofa. (Unless we're talking about a mob putting homes to the torch, which then moves from the property destruction column to lives being threatened column, but again, this is not 1992)

Have you never made a typo? Feel free to say precisely "something", maybe something clever using "shit'.

I think (if you have a house) you wouldn't be this cavalier about your property destruction. I don't think, correct me if I'm wrong, that they fired bullets on anyone, tear gas maybe.

Have you ever said "something"? Let's take your first post in this thread:
Yes, things aren't going to go smoothy or always make sense with this admin. We know that.
Real insightful.
However when an admin (any admin) tries to carry out policy and a crowd tries to prevent that, what do you expect will happen?
More insight.
ICE is trying to round up illegal immigrants.
And what is their crime? Be specific.
Whether you support that policy or not, that is the current policy of this admin. No admin is going to let a crowd turn the government back. Would you expect ICE to just go away and tell Trump "we can't enforce those policies in LA because the crowds won't let us?". That's not going to happen under any admin.
Pretty much same shit as above--or are there some details I'm overlooking?
Granted nothing under this admin is a "good look" but that's politics and a bigger problem. The government responding to a crowd impeding ICE shouldn't be a surprise.
Again, same shit.

Are you even capable of saying "something"?

I don't care what you make of it. If you don't believe it, it's your problem not mine.
For the record, I'm not interested in whether or not you "care". And how would my belief, or disbelief, be a "problem"?

I was simply observing that you and your ilk are all the same. Because you lived through the '60s, that somehow bestows knowledge of "riots" and "bad policing" upon you. How exactly does that work? Explain the process.
