Piercings....why?

In conjunction with the tattoos....why? thread, i have decided to do somthing like that about piercings, why do people have piercings? is it because they enjoy the pain, (like me) or is it because they just want to try and stand out, because piercings are getting more and more outlandish:

which looks great, and feels great.

so why do we have piercings, in your opinions?

it is true i have shall we say a few piercings,

eyebrow
ears 3 times
lip
nose
naval
and 1 other

i did have a tounge piercing but my body rejected it so bad that i was rushed into hospital having cut out. And yes that HURT like mad, so why do we do it to ourselfs?

Ermm no offense, but that just looks nasty and god damn painful.

so why do we have piercings, in your opinions?

Because we like the thought of increasing the number of holes in our bodies? Personally I only have 2 piercings. 1 earring in each ear. I don't know.. why did you get all of yours?

A woman I know went out with a guy who had so many piercings in his penis, he had to sit down to pee because it apparently sprayed everywhere. Made my husband cross his legs and wince when he started telling us about it.

I like piercings because I think they look nice.

BTW -- I don't think the piercings are getting outlandish (like that arrangement of surface piercings you posted in that picture). They are just ideas for designs, and variety continues to evolve.

because, to be totally honest with you, my friend said "you wouldnt have the guts" so i did it, and found i loved it, so i carried on, i want my cheek pierced

I mean who in the hell gets bars pierced through their willy and little weights attached to it? He's apparently got several of those, including other bars, studs and rings.
