Cutting costs...if it boils down to a desperate situation, Dave, you could turn off Smilies/IMG code, and maybe html as a last resort.

Does deleting PM's really cut costs? If so, I will do so. And check up on the inactives and maybe remove them...
 
What about deleting all the users that have been on for a while and haven't posted anything. Surely you could get rid of them.

Er, because the only cost is bandwidth - ie. data transfer. Inactive users don't transfer any data.
 
I would imagine it is a variable cost depending on how many members access Sciforums per month and per day and things like links to other sites on the internet for pictures that you do not have to open to see. If you notice during the time we have been experencing difficulties there have been not "picture posts" in the Astromony section.
