Yes, I go back a few years before the Baby Boom. Besides, I could never qualify as a true hippie because despite the sex and drugs and rock'n'roll, I always had a job and a home.

From the songbook of the hippie era (however you define that?), as a musician I've got way too many to list, but here's a representative sample of twenty in more-or-less chronological order:

The Band already plays Black Magic Woman . Yeah ! Good Good too . Our own interpretation that all the peoples like . "Buy Me a Mercury" is the real crowd pleaser . Yeah when we finished that at the last show I heard em in the audience yell out while they point there finger at the band . They yelled out " O.K. Now that Was Good . You got Me on that one . That was good !!
Frags looks like list straight out of a fake book ( For you that don't know what a fake book is it is a book of hit songs with mainly the cords music notation melody and lyrics . Sometimes they will have other instrumental parts written out also . Like piano or guitar solo. Sometimes there will be guitar tabs also if it is a fake book geared for guitar ) Bows and Flows of Angel hair Frag. I have to say I do like several of the songs on your list . Don't know if that would be me perfect play list though . Each there own .

My favorite album was these guys from Chico University and the were featured with the jazz band from the university . I forget the name of the album and the band . Shit I can almost here it in me head now . God I love that sound they put out . Kind of a Steely Dan kind of sound . Feather River I think was the name of one of the songs . I bought it at a good will store for a buck in 1980 I think

I guess I see listening only to the music you grew up with as being in a rut. What to flower children listen to today?
 
All of this music is before my time. Being in a rut is listening to that same pop shit on the radio over and over that they play now.

I find myself having to go back in time farther to my parents time(50s I'm on a Link Wray kick still) and before that(Appalachian Traditional) to get anything "new and worthwhile" to me.
