Caffeine, Methedrine and other illegal drugs.

Moderator note: sciforums does not encourage nor endorse the use of illegal drugs. Difficult to tell whether this post is supposed to be a joke or is intended seriously. Probably best not to post this sort of thing if the meaning is ambiguous.

Exercise always worked off the sleepiness for me. Do you have a steep hill to walk up and down several times? If not, then try five or ten push-ups at the start, and add one more each day till you reach a satisfactory number that sufficiently puts you 163 stories above drowsy.

Things that get you out and about (AND provide exercise) - like taking a walk, and taking in your environment as you walk - can really help. Walks in nature settings are especially good - they help you sleep better at night when you're supposed to so that you aren't sluggish and sleepy during the day. And a moderate amount of coffee in the morning can also help you get momentum to do things (but not so much that it rebounds on you in the afternoon, and you get lethargic). Also, avoiding low fiber carbs helps, like white flour or rice foods.

Food addiction (I take this to mean that you are overeating) is a whole other topic. That's something you might want to discuss with a healthcare specialist, so they can direct you towards better diet and eating habits, and ways to build a good disciplined approach. That is some hard work, so don't let anyone pretend it isn't. I am sorry, I do not know what a "wassce" is. Could you give me the common English word for that, or if it's an acronym just spell it out? ETA - sorry, I see the answer was provided already, so never mind! "West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) is a critical step towards higher education and a successful career." Got it.

What can I do?
I strongly recommend you do NOT find "ways to keep awake'. This can have detrimental effect on your health.

Simply being awake is not what you need to have your mind operating at peak.

What you want do to is establish a regimen of getting enough sleep each night. A routine is what you want.

That way, when you are awake, your mind will be operating at peak.

I don't know your age but young people need more sleep than mature adults. My son, now 22, still sleeps 10hrs a night if he gets the chance. Whereas I, at 71 yrs old, only need ~7hrs. It is a mistake to fight againt sleeping. It will just make you dozy when you are awake. The best thing is to make sure you get plenty of physical exercise, so that your mind and body BOTH need sleep. You will then sleep well and awake refreshed. Watch your diet and don't get fat. If you need to eat a lot, make sure it is healthy stuff with plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables to bulk it up.
