The dufus is strong with this one. Notice how you mentioned science? Yeah, that's the part that's missing when you don't know the true effect and effectiveness of some untested remedy. I'm not saying that something yet unknown to science can't be effective.@ Spidergoat,
All anyone has to do is provide a single science proven based home/natural remedy to show you are wrong repeatedly throughout this thread.
We have shown many which just shows your comprehension skills are lacking or you are just being stubborn.
How does this elude you?

@ Spidergoat,
Inclining a bed or even standing up is a PROVEN SCIENTIFIC NATURAL REMEDY for ACID REFLUX. What can be more natural than standing up, and it is proven to reduce attacks and is recommended by doctors.
I think it is funny you refer to me as a "dufus" when you seem a little thick to grasp such a simple concept. I think I could explain this to a 5 year old and get a better level of comprehension. I am guessing 5 year old comprehension as my youngest is 8 and this would seem far too advanced for him.
Keep arguing your losing stance all you like. Throw insults if you cannot think of anything intelligent to say.
I don't mind.
I relish "debating" with people who know they are wrong but cannot admit it.
Birthwort
Aristolochia (Birthwort) has been shown to be both a potent carcinogen and kidney toxin. Herbal compounds containing Aristolochia are classified as a Group 1 carcinogen by the International Agency for Research on Cancer.[17] Epidemiological and laboratory studies have identified Aristolochia to be a dangerous kidney toxin; Aristolochia has been shown associated with more than 100 cases of kidney failure.[18] Furthermore, it appears as if contamination of grain with European Birthwort (A. clematitis) is a cause of Balkan nephropathy, a severe renal disease occurring in parts of southeast Europe.[19]
Despite the toxic properties of aristolochic acid, naturopaths claim that a decoction of birthwort stimulates the production and increases the activity of leukocytes (white blood cells), or that pipevines contain a disinfectant which assists in wound healing.

@ Spidergoat,
What's Naturopath?
@ spidergoat,
Just because you now realize there are scientific Natural Remedies does not mean you should buy into every witch doctor tomfoolery that exists. I'd advise you to consult a real doctor before you take any more of this Birthwort. Perhaps it does what you say, but it sounds sketchy to me.
I'd stick to what is known science and not participate in folk remedies. Perhaps you can start a thread in pseudoscience if you wish to elaborate on your fairy tale cures, and leave this thread for science. Voodoo, Witchcraft, Naturopath (whatever you call it), have no place on this thread.

Contact your health care practitioner if you experience any of these possible side effects of bay.
•asthma
•skin irritation
Eating bay leaves without crushing them first may cause bowel perforation.
Interactions
Combining herbs with certain drugs may alter their action or produce unwanted side effects. Tell your health care practitioner about any prescription or nonprescription drugs you're taking, especially insulin.
Important points to remember
•Don't use bay if you're pregnant or breast-feeding.
•Don't consume essential oil from bay leaves because of the risk of allergic reaction and an asthma attack.
•Don't ingest whole, intact bay leaves. Because of their sharp, serrated edges, they can become lodged in the esophagus or intestine. Some people have had to have surgery to remove them.
What the research shows
Although bay leaf is a popular seasoning, scientists can't verify claims that it's effective in treating diabetes or any other disease.
