I've just updated the control/navigation bar at the top. Two notable changes are the addition of links to 'private messages' and 'new posts'. These should help you use these features quickly from any page (I imagine the 'new posts' link will be especially useful).
Note, however, that the 'new posts' link on the front page has been removed and you should now use the link in the control bar. Hopefully this will cause no unusual consternation.
