Making Nitric acid (or not).

Why don't you just buy some concentrated nitric acid?

And yes, please work outdoors when you're making nitrocellulose. Carefully.

I think it averages $50 a 100ml for concentrated and I don't know how much I'd need.

It's also not a priority.

You may mean: nitrous oxide.
The laughing gas that makes cars go fast.
Lol, well yes, that would make for a happy traveler....:D

But my little comment was an attempt at a little different kind of humor.
Nitric oxide,
In mammals, including humans, nitric oxide is a signaling molecule in many physiological and pathological processes.[5] Nitric oxide dilates blood vessels, raising blood supply and lowering blood pressure.[6]Conversely, it helps protect tissues from damage due to low blood supply.
Also a neurotransmitter, nitric oxide acts in the nitrergic neurons active on smooth muscle, abundant in the gastrointestinal tract and erectile tissue
.[7] Nitric oxide is also an immune effector, mediating diverse activities of immune cells.
......

May I know how do you want to prepare nitric acid. Just curious.
You might as well ask how I intend to brew beer with cannabis in it. I just know my lab (AKA kitchen) is only equipped to do one of the two safely. But I do have some decent toys to play with.

That and locally I could only find sulphuric acid for sale.

Good. Nitric acid is a weaker acid than sulfuric acid. So you displace it from its salt by using sulfuric acid. I think your method is based on this principle. By the way, I am from non English speaking country. So I do not follow your reply completely.
