KETO! KETO! KETO!

I was stating that losing fat, on average, is mainly about burning more calories

i follow this idea strictly 24/7
have done for the last 7 or soo years.
people say dont count calories
but thats only if you cant identify what is quality food and what is calorie burning or have a very distinct eating disorder or serious disease or recovering from an operation where you have lost weight from being sick and in hospital.

Yea, exactly. “Counting calories” alone isn’t the sum total of fitness, but it is strongly advisable if one is interested in losing, gaining or maintaining weight.

I have always, as a tin lid, as a teenager playing football and fit, and as an adult, been what could be classed as "cuddly" or "nuggety "....I have never yet been on any promoted diet or anything resembling it. Now as an old bastard, I'm tending to occasionally start putting on weight...remedy, just cut down minimally over the whole range of foods...two bits of bread instead of three with a meal...one slice of toast instead of two along with cereal for brekky...Kentucky or Big Mac once a fortnight instead of once a week, etc etc etc. In other words I cut down everything in general, and avoid nothing in particular, except chocolate which I eliminate altogether..... Works like a charm, and within a month I'm back again at my cuddly weight of 89 kgs.
My general walking for 30 minutes each morning is sometimes constricted due to a bad knee where I had my medial mensicus removed when playing footy. So I make up for that missed exercise time with a vibrator....a vibrating platform that is! :p and some home push ups.

As an old bastard of 75 years very shortly, I have not been in a hospital for many years, have BP averaging 130/85, heart in excellent condition and no other problems other then potential Prostate cancer which at this time is being held in check with PSA readings being constant, after a biopsy. Been told on that score that when my time comes, i'll probably kick the bucket "with"prostate cancer, rather then because of prostate cancer. But either way, I won't be going peacefully!! :D

lol Glad you clarified that ^^

"'Cuddly weight.'' Aw...

not if your diabetic
then chocolate syrup is fatal lol
You think diabetics don't have the same daily struggle as anybody else? Diabetes can happen to people who love food, take comfort in food, cook and appreciate food. Only they can't go cold turkey, like smokers and alcoholics. You can't simply quit food. You can't even yo-yo diet.
You have to learn forethought, self-control, moderation --
all the hardest things in the world to master.
Most can't or won't - not consistently.
It's completely impossible on commercial processed foods - which is what brought on the Type II epidemic in the first place.
I live with a diabetic who's managed it pretty well for 14 years, and the way we do is to introduce just enough ice cream, or chocolate or mac/cheese just often enough not to go mad, and the rest of the time, find interesting ways to prepare broccoli, mushrooms and tofu.
It's a lot like work.

i have been doing a bit of reading
not specifically on diabetes, what i did come across is a potential link of Mono sodium glutimate as a hormone antagonist that may create cravings for food and bring on an addictive response to food.
i would suggest if you are eating MSG stop.

what i found was a potential link to endorphins to states of behavioral addictive process
consequentially it appears as i dug further, MSG seems to elevate hormone levels.

with this compound effect of existing behavioral endorphin increase, then being raised by MSG in food, may potentially bring on an addictive response through brain chemistry and gut/biological processing.

life hack post lol

given the potential link to raised hormone levels in pregnant lab rats and the human issue of post natal depression
i would suggest that ALL pregnant women and post natal women and people with depression stop eating MSG for ever.

Abstract
BACKGROUND:
We aim at determining the role of monosodium glutamate (MSG) compared with high caloric chow(HCC) in development of obesity in pregnant rats and their offspring.

METHODS:
Ninety pregnant rats were divided into 3 groups, control, MSG and HCC fed. We determined energy intake, body weight (BW), abdominal fat, fat to body weight ratio, serum glucose, insulin, leptin, lipid profile, ob and leptin receptor-b gene expressions in pregnant rats and ob and leptin receptor-b gene expressions, serum insulin, glucose, leptin, triacylglycerides (TAG), total lipids (TL) and BW in offspring.

RESULTS:
Although daily energy intake and BW of MSG treated rats were lower than those of HCC fed rats, their abdominal fat and fat body weight ratio were higher. MSG or HCC increased Ob gene expression, leptin, insulin,LDL, cholesterol, total lipids (TL), glucose and decreased leptin receptor-b gene expression. In offspring of MSG treated rats, BW, serum glucose, insulin, leptin, TAG, TL and Ob gene expression increased and leptin receptor-b gene expression decreased whereas in offspring of HCC fed rats, serum insulin, leptin, Ob and leptin receptor-b gene expression increased but serum glucose, TAG, TL or BW did not change.

CONCLUSION:
We conclude that in pregnant rats, MSG, in spite of mild hypophagia, caused severe increase in fat body weight ratio, via leptin resistance, whereas, HCC increased BW and fat body weight ratio, due to hyperphagia with consequent leptin resistance. Moreover, maternal obesity in pregnancy, caused by MSG, has greater impact on offspring metabolism and BW than that induced by HCC.

my thoughts ...
from the 3 studies i read, there in inference that MSG could potential create depression
as it combines the hormonal activation and also increases food cravings into a behavior.
this combined may potentially drive behavioral food processes that are accompanied with hormonal activation making a strong multi chemical process that is habitualised as a life behavior pattern
my original chase was into endorphin release as patterns of behavioral process of behavior patterns. that seemed to also show some added influence.

note this is habitualised self activated endorphin release by self programming as a human behavioral process
NOT to be confused with going to a comedy show or other such event type instances of expected endorphin activation.

im quite tired so apologies for any typos.
and ... yes
the consequential combination of MSG in a meal followed by sugar and alcohol
would be a massive habitualising driver.
large amounts of carbs on a full stomach have a pre programed and programed endorphin release.

high carbs
MSG
sugar
chocolate
alcohol

as a normal meal constituent may be the worst possible thing for people with addictive predisposition and also may trigger and build up patterns of addictive process that is equal to taking medium to lose dose daily drugs like opioids.

you heard it here first :p

In this form, yes. But there has been controversy for decades: lots of negative press, so that
restaurants and some packaged foods touted their product as "No MSG"
but then most governments passed is as "safe"
- which is just as true of salt and sugar,
but that doesn't mean they're not addictive,
and it's used in sneaky ways so you don't know how much you're consuming or why
Which was my reason for my remark on diabetes management:
It's completely impossible on commercial processed foods - which is what brought on the Type II epidemic in the first place.
There is just too much stuff in there you can't control that can control you.

You think diabetics don't have the same daily struggle as anybody else?
I am a Type III Diabetic.

It's identical to a Type II, but I'm in denial, so I eat as if I don't have Diabetes.

I'll have something like that engraved on my tombstone. :)

It might be cost-effective to make the term 'keto' a banned topic of conversation on SciFo, and then make a script that finds any mention of the word and simply delete the thread.
:)
Unfortunately not an option I can implement.

What I am doing is gradually banning the IP address ranges that this spam is coming from. It all originates from India - New Delhi to be precise. The ISPs there seem to have huge ranges of IP addresses available, presumably to cater for a very large number of internet users. The problem is that the spammers take advantage of that and use lots of more-or-less random IPs. The problem with banning ranges of addresses that are too large is that we risk cutting off access to the forum from legitimate Indian users. Not that we have many of those, as far as I am aware.

and they will be all pretending to be legitimate keto product sales while they steal your bank & credit card numbers & sell you fake chemicals in a packet.

...maybe someone can make a presentation about it & then bobs your uncle...
im sure they are building up to it
i better wig off
