You would cry too if it happened to you…

Well, what do you know, I'm 89 now. I had a birthday. Oct 31, 1926 (Age: 89)

I don’t want to tell James my birthday. I don’t want anyone to know my birthday because it makes it easier for people to find you. Do you guys think this is fair?

Some smart ass put October 31, 1926 as my birthday. Was it you? Will you fix it?

Hello Secular Sanity.

Politeness might work better. For example, you could write:

"The birth date on my profile is wrong for some reason. Could you please fix it? The correct date should be xx/xx/xx. Thank you."

I don't know which "smart ass" set your birthday. It seems very unlikely that it would be anybody but you, when you signed up, unless there's been some kind of database error for some reason. Moderators cannot alter your profile data. Administrators such as myself can, but I haven't touched your birthdate. (Why would I? What would be the point?)

If you let me know what date it should be, and ask me nicely, then I can fix it for you.

Best wishes.

Not sure what the point here is... you can either give James your corrected information (or even wrong information if you so choose) or not - it is set when you create the account, and can only be altered by an Admin. Seems pretty straightforward?

It's not set when you create the account. I want it left blank like it used to be.

Never mind. I fixed it myself.

You did...? Might I inquire as to how you did that? I ask because:

Mine states that it cannot be changed - perhaps if it is not entered at signup, an arbitrary default is used until it is set?

A default date that just happens to be Halloween?

I didn't change the date. I just made it invisible to the public.

*shrug* I'm not sure Secular - I don't have access to the back-end of the forum software to know for certain (the default date was just a guess).
