Israeli air strike on Syria

Ah ok..
So Syria is harboring terrorists according to Israel ? Sorry, I stopped following this some time ago.

Syria is:
- harboring and supportin the leadership of Hamas
- a conduit point of weapons & cash to Hizballah
- stockpiling Iranian weapons which are aimed at Israeli population centers
- according to this new report is building nuke installations that the North Koreans are selling & building for them

Israel has done what it's done for one or a combination of the following reasons:
- take out the long-range Iranian missiles aimed at Israeli towns
- take out the nuke facilities being built by the North Koreans (why else has NK's regime responded? they have never done that before... maybe one of their engineers has been killed in the strike)
- testing a flight corridor towards Iran if the time comes to bomb their nuke reactors

EDIT:
another reason is to test the capabilities of the advanced new Russian anti-air-craft systems that Putin so kindly sold to Syria

You have inside information?

A link perhaps? Some evidence?

Why is it that all the attacks are INITIATED by Israel?

Hamas and Hesbollah are resistance factions, which I am glad that Syria is supporting. We have the right to own weapons if the Israelis do

Israel is:

-aiming at Arab civilian population centers
-supporting and flexing terrorism
- murdering innocent people
-developing weapons*

* see how stupid that sounds?

But you said it was only the Israelis attacking things. "All the attacks are carried out by Israel", you said.

They have nuclear weapons; they are illegally occupying another people since 40 years.

Frankly until they stop their occupation AND make restitution, they have no right to complain about what their prisoners do in self defense or to free themselves.

It would be like holding the holocaust victims accountable for wanting to put the Nazis on trial.

If Syria loses this war, I will rip my hair out.

But if "we" kill any innocent civilians, I'll lose support for my own country.
Does that include hiding behind them, or firing off a few rounds/rockets like Hezbollah did, then ducking into civilian domiciles before the Israelis can get to you with airstrikes?
Using civilians as shields/cover IMO is just the same as killing them.

What's good for the goose is good for the gander.

What do you think of Israel attacking a country for capturing two soldiers close to their border? The two soldiers are alive and well while everyone knows what has happened in Lebanon. What do you also think of the fact that if not for the Hezbollah, Israel would still be illegally occupying Lebanon (which it did for 18 years) and that it was Israel who initiated military strikes in both instances as now in Syria?

So its acceptable for Hezbollah to throw a million cluster bombs in Israel and refuse to give the locations, so that innocent children and civilians fall victim to them? Destroy hospitals and bridges, displace a million plus people, kill a thousand more? After all, if the Hezbollah have two soldiers, Israel has a thousand plus people including children in captivity.

Since the beginning of Israel’s full-scale military occupation of Palestine in 1967, more than 650,000 Palestinians have been detained by the Israeli military. This represents over 15% of the total Palestinian population in the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), making Palestinians one of the populations most subjected to incarceration in the world.

- From September 2000 - April 2006, more than 45,000 Palestinians were arrested by the Israeli military.

- In April 2006 at least 9,599 Palestinian prisoners were being held in Israeli jails.

- In April 2007 the number of imprisoned Palestinians increased to 11,229.

- The 11,229 Palestinian prisoners now in Israeli jails include 104 women, 375 children of both sexes, and 19 mothers whose children are imprisoned with them.

- Approximately 3,800 Palestinians are being held in civil prisons. The remaining prisoners are held in Israeli military detention centres and prison camps.

Child Prisoners

- More than 4,000 Palestinian children have been arrested since the start of the second Intifada.

- Under military regulations in force in the OPT, a child over the age of 16 is considered an adult. This is contrary to the defined age of a child as under 18 according to the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child, to which Israel is a signatory.

- In practice, Palestinian children from the age of 12 onwards may be charged and sentenced in military courts.

- Between the ages of 12-14, children can be sentenced for up to 6 months for minor offences, including throwing a stone.

- After the age of 14, Palestinian children are tried as adults, in violation of international law.

- There are no juvenile courts for Palestinian children. They also frequently serve their sentences in cells with adult criminal prisoners, which is in violation of international law

A "preemptive" attack by Israel is a joke in the light of these continued, unchecked and ongoing atrocities.

What do YOU think about Hezbollah's stubborn refusal to return those soldiers.

What do I think? I don't care. Even though I'm not very religious, Israel doesn't belong to the Arabs. It belonged to the Jews before the Arabs took it and it was rightfully given back to them in the 1940s. You can cry foul all you want, Israel is in the hands of the rightful owners.

and that it was Israel who initiated military strikes in both instances as now in Syria?
If Israel found that Syria is supplying Hezbollah (who initiated the rocket strikes last year, or were you in a coma during those three weeks?), then more power to them.

Hezbollah started that shit last year. What part of that do you not understand? Is it the "Hezbollah" part or the "started that shit" part? Help me understand why the blatantly obvious seems to escape your NARROW perception. Please!

let the demagoguery begin...

if Syria and all that crap you said are morally justified, how come Hamas and Syria are isolated, even by the Arab League? the only countries aligned with them are North Korea and Iran. the former is a hermit kingdom which is the most isolated country on earth, and the latter is being increasingly isolated with increasing sanctions by the Security Council, and is facing a very real possibility of bombing which would be sanctioned (publically and privately) by the entire world -- especially the Gulf countries.

in other words - when you have so little supporters, and the ones you have are fanatics that no one wants to be friends with, your claim of righteousness sort of falls flat.

now i won't get into the details about the larger conflict and philosophy and all that, bc this thread will go to hell, and is largely irrelevant. what is relevant, is that Syria has been responsible, directly and indirectly, for attacks on Israel, for decades. and if the Israeli gov't sent planes to destroy threats, then it was necessary. i assure you, no pizzerias or bus stations were blown up, and no toddlers were sniped in the process.

Like the Jews who were sent back to Germany from the UK and US during the Nazi atrocities.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose

i resent the disgusting comparison and won't bother responding.
i also know that if i bother to point out the obvious huge difference the topic will die on a tangent

Secret detention camps holding people including children without evidence, disproportionate and violent retribution, torture, detention of mothers and their children, children imprisoned along with adults, severe occupation, separation wall, checkpoints, starvation, people dying at checkpoints for lack of medical care, sonic booms, daily military insurgencies.....

You'd have to be pretty much in denial anyway to think this is right. Ideological fantasies are not a prerogative of Germans who think they are justified in protecting their pure race any which way. Even if it means demonising the people they are intent on wiping out.
