That the open government forum has the most locked threads?
Very open indeed.
I find it funny.

An interesting observation, Varda.

Do the sticky announcements count toward that?

Sometimes moderators post a sticky, but it is not designed to be a thread and so they post and lock.

Perhaps one of the moderators can correct me if I am mistaken on THAT observation.

Mini version of big Government ! Is that the implication ? Talk about transparency , yet more of a lock out shut the doors kind of thing .

No Not S.F. . It is not the same . S.F. don'T print money . God we would be all powerful if we could . S.F. money ? Can you imagine ?

I'm not a mod but you are correct, they will lock a thread that is a sticky they don't want anyone to answer.

Sticky threads are a very small portion of the total.
Maybe I should do a chart on percentage of closed threads per forum in the past year, you know, for the visually stimulated.

members are often complicit in the closure of threads in this forum

sometimes the retards make suggestions that mods latch on to and it ends up as a self fulfilling prophesy

these dumbass members will often make offtopic posts that again offer the mods yet another pretext to close threads.

a decent example would be this..........

They're doing this thing now where they ignore you for a couple of days, and then lock the thread.

I'm not sure whether your claim is true about the most locked threads.

However, it is worth saying that sometimes threads are locked in Site Feedback or Open Government either when an issue has been resolved or a question answered, when further discussion of the topic becomes pointless.

Threads are also sometimes locked when they descend into useless criticism of the site or its administration, or when they become repetitive in re-hashing already-addressed complaints or dislikes.

The problems with sciforums are bigger than your own personal vendetta with jamesr.
Get over yourself.

more enemies of sci...........

gee gustav i'm sorry i interrupted the little jerk you got going on with james.

sometimes community efforts are worse than anything the mods could come up with....

it isn't i find gustavs ban unfair, but the reasoning behind that ban should be applied equally, to all members.
no, i am not defending gustav.

just look at that grovel. i mean i was vindicated, most adopted my pov, i got infractions reversed.......but dear old leopold? he goosesteps along with the best of them. he starts a thread with the intent of defending me and before the ball even gets rolling, he flips over with the desperation of a $2 crack whore

well then, lets have james take a shot at this then.
sorry james, gustav forced the situation.

and that is in a thread titled....James R's Independent Review Process.
just look at him grovel again.
look!

their biggest detractors are themselves :D

i never had any intentions of "defending" you gustav.
the point of the thread you referenced was fair play.
i could care less if the mods ban you for a snotty nose but that rule will be enforced equally, to all members.
i also realize there is a concept known as "justice" that the mods must deal with, something that defies "the rules".

wow
so that is how you see it?
please elaborate

Ok, I apologise. I don't see it quite like that. It's the bile in your posts that made me reply in kind.

Though I consider your effort to be worthy of praise, I think that down the line it is ineffective, as the past few weeks have shown that JamesR will do whatever he wants, and will have Plazma's endorsement to do it.

Have your infractions been reversed?

You can put your argument down point by point and it may be perfectly reasonable, but in the end, it will still be up to James' whim.

Tsk . . .tsk . . .Varda . . . NOW you're messing with the Sciforum Admin (re: James' whim) . . . it was entertaining to have you in this forum . . . while it lasted!

Is it good to rail against the summer heat or the winter cold?

if you want something useful to do........

i see violations of......

Trolling
18. Trolling is the posting of inflammatory posts with the primary intent of provoking readers into an emotional (often angry) response. Trolls aim to disrupt normal on-topic discussion, often by raising tangential or irrelevant hot-button issues. Trolling posts are intended to incite controversy or conflict and/or to cause annoyance or offence.

Propaganda, preaching, proselytising and evangelising
21. Propaganda is loosely defined here as posts that have no aim other than to proclaim the superiority of one belief over another, particularly where the belief in question is the subject of controversy or argument. Examples include preaching one’s own religion as the only true religion, proclaiming that one’s favoured political party is superior to the opposing party, or proclaiming that one group is morally superior to another. The signature of propaganda is that it consists largely of a member expressing strongly held personal beliefs about things that can’t be proven, supposedly in the interests of achieving some important aim (e.g. world peace, governing the nation effectively, ensuring that people act morally).

the rules in james's Vegetarian's guide to talking to carnivores

despite numerous complaints, the thread probably persists by virtue of the fact than an admin owns it. the op is nothing but an trollish cut and paste

the rest of the staff are either complicit in perpetuating the troll on this community or lack the balls to perform the duties they took upon themselves to do

therefore, my intrepid and fearless warrior, sfog with a poll. demand the immediate cess and sanctions

no one should be above the law
do you concur?
