Is AIDS curable?

AIDS is really a set of symptoms that result from the effects on the immune system of the HIV virus.

Currently, there is no "cure" for HIV. What we'd like is a way to kill the virus without harming the patient, but that's a difficult problem given the nature of the virus.

There are treatments available that effectively control HIV so that the patient doesn't develop AIDS. In other words, it is now quite possible to live a long and happy life unaffected by HIV, but only by taking certain medication regularly.

Researchers are working on clever ways to eradicate the HIV virus in a human body. As we speak, there are some human clinical trials underway. So, it might not be very long before we have a "cure" for HIV.

i believe south east Asia has a big social problem with accepting science that can help treat HIV
the situation is fairly unique in the mix between tribal superstition mixed with conservative Catholicism, both driving a wedge between science and the patient while both refusing to admit their implicit intent to direct social culture ideologies directly effecting the adoption of modern science in a social secular model for better outcomes.

possibly a good model(testing ground) for how to deal with africa in another few decades
