Every nation goes through this cycle. German cars once sucked. Then their engineers got better at making them. Japanese cars sucked, and "Japanese car" was once a synonym for junk. Now they are some of the best around. China used to have a reputation as making trash cars. That is now changing rapidly too.

With the new tariffs rewarding mediocrity in the US, expect US cars to become the new trash. and Chinese cars to be the standard for reliability.

I think US cars already are unless they are made at the US Toyota plant...

Ford manufactures in Michigan, Kentucky, Missouri, Illinois and Ohio. GM adds Texas, Tennessee and Indiana to that list. Stellantis is Michigan and Ohio. And of course Tesla is California and Texas.

I'm aware that cars are made, but it's mostly trucks that most people buy. I was not (again) being literal.
