Inexplicable Weird Feeling About Some Random Words

I can usually tell at a glance whether a word is spelled correctly.

My father used to read voraciously but he was a terrible speller. I couldn't understand how he could see a word and not know how to spell it - but I eventually realized that everybody doesn't have that ability. (He would also hear a word and still mispronounce it.)

This computer has spellcheck turned on, so I can just tweak a word until it's accepted. The spell checker is inordinately fond of hyphens.

It is like part of me knows it is correct yet part of me has the weird feeling about it.

Well, I do not stare at a word until after I get the weird feeling.

I get this when looking at the Dutch language, my native language. It has to be the strangest language in the world. Its harsh and guttural and some of the words are just too hilarious to be considered a language at all. In addition it has adopted words from many other countries, undoubtedly due to the Dutch being a seafarers and traders. French, English, German, Italian, you name it the Dutch use it.
Even the word Dutch is a complete misnomer. It stems from Deutsch, which is German, but to identify oneself as a Netherlander takes much too long and we have replaced it with an even longer term "Holland Dutch". Go figure....

English is probably more than half adopted from other languages.
I do not recall ever having that weird feeling with any words other than English.

In a book by Edward de Bono, he described an experiment in which you make jello in a shallow pan; when it's set, you prop it up at a small angle and drip hot water at the upper end. The water takes more-or-less random paths at first but over time the paths merge and some of the channels become deeper. The end result is that the deeper channels attract more of the water and become even deeper.

That's an analogy to the way thoughts become embedded in out brains. Even something that's new is likely to be directed into one of the old channels.

The interesting thing is that when you measure the meanderings against a straight line to the bottom, you'll end up with an average of about Pi.
Jello Pi.!.......

Even zombies have rights...

In the constitution?

I seem to remember something about dead not having any rights with remnants of those they did have prior to death passing to their estate

However there could well be some crazy polititicon wanting to give dead people the vote. Since many are against cleaning up voter rolls it seems some dead are already voting by proxy

:)

A common misconception is that zombies are dead people. This is not correct and probably a great source of confusion regarding their constitutional rights..
Zombies are folkloric undead creatures who consume human flesh. There is no evidence to support their existence.

By the recent voting history, it is becoming apparent that there is now emerging evidence of their existence. I foresee a massive shake-up in the next census.....

ps. where did all those children go?

"creatures?"

Not "undead humans?"

Do we have creatures from horses to cockroaches as zombies?

Are graveyards dine out sites? Crematoriums - dehydrated humans to go - just add water

:)

Undead means technicly dead yet animated.

Ok, must be a mental thing, perhaps similar to an optical illusion. The brain can come up with some very interesting interpretive solutions to cetain visual stimuli.

This may be of interest;

I'm not going read the whole thread, but, wow. So many of y'all are children.

Synesthesia is fairly common. Most people suppress it because it can be a hindrance in hunting and gathering, but on feast night, with the magical herbs or mushrooms, it's a celebration that just might result in more cerebration.

Just my opinion, perhaps warranted. Your mileage may vary...
