I Want To Kill...

I've quit smoking.
Yesterday, in fact, with the aid of NRT patches.

After 20 years of really enjoying cigarettes, I've decided it's time to stop.

I'm wondering if anyone else has ever quit and stayed off of them here?
Mainly because I need some encouragement. Right now, as we speak, I'm desperatly trying to think of a good reason NOT to walk the 20 yards to the shop and buy a pack of Marlboros...!

Good luck to you! If you ever go back , try to keep stopping whenever you can and eventually you will stop smoking. It is very hard to do but those around you will support you if they don't smoke. Just never quit trying to stop whatever happens. Watch the food you eat as well, I gained over 70 pounds when I quit, I only substituted one bad habit for another! :yay:

Good luck man !
I haven't been able to quit myself yet (not that I really tried..), so no advice from me I'm afraid.

I've heard drinking OJ helps.... me never been able to quit.

tried the patches , too hard to keep lit

35years... fucking military got me started

Tried several times unsuccessfully during 10 years of smoking. Had to take a bus unexpectantly one day and there was one seat open. I took it and the guy sitting in front of me just reeked of cigarettes. I sat there breathing it in, occasionally looking at the pack of smokes in my shirt pocket. After 5-6 minutes I opened the window and threw my cigs out. Never had another one.

It was so easy. Why it worked that time I don't know but I am glad it did.

Great advice from everyone, thanks!
I slipped last night and had a few but I was utterly shitfaced, so maybe I'll have to quit the booze for a bit too...?
OJ defo helps, although I'm drinking 4 large cartons a day now and, as a result, I daren't be more than 30 feet from a toilet at any point!

I'm determined to pull this off, so thanks again for the encouragement!

And I'm a Coca cola junk as well.. lol

Besides, whoever said I'm pure ? It certainly wasn't me.. :p

I think the fumes from whatever I'm drinking are getting to me. You seem so impure now. Nevermind, EMNos will purify thee.

Your good twin brother, EMNOS.

I'm still high, aren't I ?

Only way to get through it is by sheer willpower. When I quit smoking, I did it cold turkey... and it was brutal (as you are now experiencing). Basically for two weeks I felt a constant urgent need to smoke. After that two weeks was over I was free and never even thought about smoking.

Theres major gain at the end of the pain, so keep that in mind :).

Cheers, CC. I've quit once before a long time ago and I know the benefits are pretty good--- being able to smell properly, taste better, etc.
I'll manage it, somehow! Today (Day 2) is the hardest, I've found.
I wish I could contract someone's cold or flu, as this always helps me quit so much easier! I just have an awesome immune system and never seem to get ill!

Are you absolutely sure you didn't mix something with your Coca cola ?

:p

Congrats, bro. I've been free of St.Nicotine for 1 year and 4 months.

Hang in there. It only gets easier from here.

I'm not (much of) a smoker, in part because my granddad, a two-pack-a-day smoker, died from a pretty horrific case of lung cancer.

I'd suggest looking up a couple pics of lung cancer patients, blackened lungs, etc. etc., the usual anti-smoking propaganda. Try to scare yourself off cigs, ya know?

how bout this?

That's not the half of it, look up "smoker's liver" on google images and look at what you find.

My dad smoked, mainly because he got cigarettes in his k-rations when he was in the military.
I never smoked because on day I snuck a big ol drink of my Dad's Pepsi that he had by his chair. The Pepsi he had been putting his cigarettes out in. :puke:
