i got me a kitten

Her bites begin to hurt now. I almost stepped on her. Which only enraged her.

Don't move your hand when she biting you, just let her.
Did you get her some playthings yet ? Then she could feast her aggression on them instead of you :p

Yes, but i have to constantly encourage it or she won't. I don't mind her biting my hand, I just hope she doesn't grow teeth any stronger.

Well, constant encouragement is kind of what she needs right now. Normally they play with their siblings. Now you have to fulfill that role. You're now both her sibling and her mom :)

More pics.

What a cute little thing! You might consider to give her a cat necklace, Challenger... you know, the one with your address and phone number in it, so that if she disappears somebody would probably return her to your home.

p.s.: sorry, I forgot to download my kittens pic from the camera.. arrgh... I'll write a note in my pocket book.

Mine looked like that the day I got them as well. It's nest hairs or something. Also, Challenger said the previous owner bathed her.
Plus.. you don't brush cats.. :p

yes you do, i brush loki every night, the vet said that brushing them regulary decreases the risk of tcks and fleas, also if your planning on showing a cat thewn brushing is a must.

Also you should bath cats at least once a month, loki loves it,

You have long-haired cats. You don't have to brush or bathe short-haired cats though.

With regards to the cat necklace issue, up to you but there are a lot of instances where cats go outside and climb trees, slip and end up hanging themselves by the collar.
I've never put collars on my cats but then I dont live near a main road.
If you do get one, make sure it has a quick-release mechanism on it.

Also, don't go too mad with all the cat products out there. Most are superfluous. All your cat needs is food, warmth, shelter, attention and the occaisional once over. Other than that, just let her do her thing.

Oh, and the biting thing? It's the same with dogs--they're showing you they could damage you if they wanted but they know it's just a game. If you really piss her off and she bites you for real, you'll know it! There'll be teeth sunk in with all four feet, claws extended and pushing away, creating a lovely tearing effect.
I've said it before---be prepared for lots of tiny scratches!!!

I can tell when she's playing and when she's hungry. She bites real hard when she's hungry, as well as becomes hyperactive.
Also, whats the best way to hold a cat?

By the scruff. If your cat is heavy, [or even otherwise] you might consider holding him/her by the scruff of the neck with one hand and put the other one under his/her bum to offset the pull on the neck.

If you're trying to hold onto a cat thats trying to get away or fighting, first give them something to bite. A thick towel is fine. Then grab the neck with one hand and once you get good purchase, with the other hand quickly grab the hind legs above the ankles and grip tightly. Now you got a captive cat. If the cat is really pissed, especially a tom, it can be hard to get a grip on the neck, in that case, a large saucepan with a long handle can come in handy :D

Also, whats the best way to hold a cat?

1. Away from your body and face especially!

2. Very carefully, being very careful not to excite them even more.

3. Just pat them and pet them would be better for then they can't scratch you as badly.

:D

I hold them one hand under the bum and their fore-paws over my shoulder while sometimes lightly supporting their back/shoulder area with my other hand.
I never pick them up by the scruff as I was told that that's only done with small kittens, it is supposedly bad for them once they are a bit bigger.

It seems you are assuming that he has brought a feral cat into the house :D
