I'm tempted to call her sam, after samantha carter..
But, I'm gonna hold off on a name.

Right know, I need some advice.

Do kittens need to be bathed ?
How do you housetrain them ?
How do you make them go to sleep or at least lie still ?

This gal is an active and fiesty one. Always biting my fingers and toes.
Also. What happens with kittens meet the bunch of wires at the back of my computer ?
will upload pics tomorrow.

NO.

How do you housetrain them ?

Just put down some paper and a kitty litter box on them. Then take them there if you see they are going to pee or whatever and sit them down in the litter box.

How do you make them go to sleep or at least lie still ?

HA! HA! That's funny. :D Actually feeding them will help them feel more sleepy.

Good luck, you'll need it. You should consider having the claws removed.

The Cat Whisperer;)

Having the claws removed is considered barbaric and inhumane by some animal activists. I did it to a cat I once had and I regretted it, not because of the activists, but I felt sorry for taking away one of the animal's basic needs. The cat will still go through the motions of scratching things even without claws.

Universal rule for kitten rearing is to not lose sight of the fact that it will become an adult quickly. Cat's sleep a lot, it's the one thing they do best.

I've got 3 cats (used to be 5 but old age an' everything...) and scratching is one of the things they all love and need to do.
If you're worried about furniture, get yourself a couple of corkboards with twine wrapped around them. Or a scratching post.
Be warned, not all cats dig them though. Only one of mine uses them--the others like to rip the corners of chairs and whatnot. It's just their nature!
You CAN try and curb that behaviour early on with some stern actions but dont overdo it or your little fluffy kitten will grow up in fear of you, and that's no kind of relationship, is it!

You and your kitty will figure each other out as you go along.
(Btw-- unless you want to be savaged and lose lots of blood via tiny scratches, I'd advise against bathing a cat!)

p.s-- don't remove their claws, it's cruel. If you aren't prepared for cat-damage to your stuff, perhaps a kitty isn't the best animal for you...?

Awesome, congrats :)

Nope, they wash themselves.
Unless you have one of those long-haired cats I think they require bathing and grooming every once in a while.

I never had any difficulties with that. If they 'go' on the ground just put them immediately on the litter box. They should get they idea fairly quickly. No need to get angry at them :)
If they do something you rather not have, such as shredding your couch or jumping on the countertop, just talk angry to them and get them off somewhat less then gentle (no need to hurt them). Ideally, they soon associate an angry voice with rough treatment.
If none of this works I don't know what else you can do as it always worked with my cats.

You don't. But you can try petting them and make them feel comfortable, they might decide to lay down beside you.
Also you can make a couple of spots (or one) in the house that are theirs. Put and old flat pillow on a chair or put a blanket somewhere, they most likely start using those places to sleep by default.

:) Mine do that as well.

Uh.. keep her (I kept saying 'them'.. sigh) away from that. Mine already demolished the TV antenna cable. Kitten teeth are quite sharp and easily bite through a cable. So if she expresses any interest in the cables try to cover them up.

will upload pics tomorrow.
I can't wait !

Well I said "consider" it. If that cat starts tearing up wiring , furniture and other expensive things then he should decide what to do. If also the cat is going to be only an indoorcat, then that is the only time its claws should ever be removed. It needs those claws outside for defense and anyone removing the claws of an outside cat should be taken out and shot!

Another thing , if a male cat is neutered that would also help out with the cats behavior around the house and should be considered as well. If the cat is a male and is going to be let outside than neutering him is also a good idea. If a female cat you should spay them so they won't get pregnant if they ever get outside.:itold:

I'm not mad, just expressing my dislike of declawing.
If you don't want to take the risk of shredded furniture, don't take a cat.

I concur but sometimes it is the only way to save the cat from being either let loose or taken to the shelter.:(
People that would do that aren't likely to pay for declawing anyway. So I fear most of those cats end up in shelter or the street anyway.
People need to stop getting pets like they are toys. If you aren't going to care for it with the best interest for the animal in mind, you shouldn't take one.

I just found out the reason her fur is like that. The guys who had it before me gave them a bath.. I guess they didn't research their role.

What a cute kitten :)
She looks a bit like one of my kittens, from what I can see. What does her back look like ?
