Yes, the brain gets less plastic over time. The best time to learn new languages is as a child, while still developing. Adults can do it but it's more work.

Дети-Маугли вроде бы уже в подростковом возрасте становятся необучаемы. Просто я подумала, что за речь, и за образное мышление, отвечают разные отделы мозга. Потому что, как то же они мыслят, эти дети, но без слов. Хотя, слова - это же тоже образы. Само по себе слово - это просто звук, в лучшем случае.

Я помню, как первый раз услышала слово "совесть". Я начала искать глазами, что бы это могло быть. Посмотрела в окно, подумала, что возможно, это что то на улице.

I wonder about this. Many people claim they remember their lives from a very, very early age. But it's also true that our memory is a very slippery thing, and changes over time. It is known for a fact that we "remember" things that nver really happened. Pretty hard to nail down whether a pre-toddler memory is really a memory or a reconstruction of a fictional event.

Когда я рассказала об этом родителям уже во взрослом возрасте, и описала им, как выглядела комната и мебель, они подтвердили, что всё так и было. Хотя, мы переехали жить в другое место, когда я была ещё совсем маленькой. Когда я первый раз пошла, я помню уже совсем отчётливо. Не только место, но и чувства, которые я тогда испытала. Мне было около года.

У нас по ТВ как то даже передачу показывали про таких детей. В Рунете есть немало информации на эту тему.

В Гугле тоже немало информации об этом. Есть статьи о детях-Маугли из России, перепечатанные из Яндекса. Или у нас другой Гугл?

I don't believe connections disappear. They just go dormant and can be awakened later in life.
