For those who own commercial businesses, how do you control the cost and environmental impact associated with your waste stream? What are your strategies to reduce environmental impact and costs while assuring compliance?

Can't speak as a business owner, but have been observing my employer. Everything that can be recycled is recycled. They bail their cardboard, plastic and metal and pack it in trailers, which in turn are picked up by another company for recycling. I don't believe my employer is selling their recyclables, but probably save a fortune on garbage disposal. We don't deal with chemicals, but I have worked in such an environment. Disposing of that stuff can be pretty expensive from what I have heard.
