A thread for posting Haiku. They're short and fun. Here are two I wrote a few nights ago while I was bored:

Dumbness
People are stupid
It makes me very depressed
Can I get a hug?


AR-15
Big black and phallic
You make me squeal like a girl
How I lust for you
 
Haiku and Zen Poetry

The distant mountains
are reflected in the eye
of the dragonfly

Clinging to the bell
he dozes so peacefully,
this new butterfly

Clambering up the Cold Mountain path,
The Cold Mountain trail goes on and on:
The long gorge choked with scree and boulders,
The wide creek, the mist-blurred grass.
The moss is slippery, though there's been no rain
The pine sings, but there's no wind.
Who can leap the world's ties
And sit with me among the white clouds?

Changes and is changing
Always in this world.
Yet with the same light
The moon goes on shining.

mathematics has infinity
religion has eternity
I gaze out over the ocean
and I have my thoughts

Ahh, thanks for contributing.

A reminder to all of our contestants, Haiku should follow the form of the first line consisting of five sylables, the second having seven, and the third should have five (5-7-5). Also points are docked if your Haiku is a sentence broken up into the 5-7-5 format, each line should be independent.
 
Temptation

Incarnadine lips
Look so tempting and divine
I'll punch you once more
 
Save the ozone eat a cow

Milk the cow until dry
Make hamburger and wallets
Praise the bovine god
 
Know your master

Feed me right away!
Faking deafness is painful
Cat's claws in my calves

A reminder to everyone who still hasn't gotten it:

Haiku is a three line poem consisting of three lines, the first line must be 5 sylables, the second must be 7 sylables, and the third must also be 5 sylables in length.

What IS a Haiku?

I know the whole 5-7-5 thing, but I mean deeper than that?
Is there a significance to teh 5-7-5?
Were Haiku's intended to have a purpose?

Does anyone know the history of Haiku?

Did God create man?
Or is man God's creator?
Don't fuckin' ask me.
 
They're an ancient form of chinese poetry, and most often deal with broad topics of life and nature and the like. More than that I can't say.

I wish I could write Haiku
