George W. Bush, as we’ve been reminded now and then, is our first MBA president. Ever wonder what they taught him up there at Harvard? In at least one class, nothing. Here are fond memories from his old teacher, Yoshi Tsurumi, who is now Professor of International Business at the City University of New York:

At Harvard Business School, thirty years ago, George Bush was a student of mine. I still vividly remember him. In my class, he declared that “people are poor because they are lazy.” He was opposed to labor unions, social security, environmental protection, Medicare, and public schools. To him, the antitrust watch dog, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Securities Exchange Commission were unnecessary hindrances to “free market competition.” To him, Franklin Roosevelt’s New Deal was “socialism.” (Full text here)

I particularly like the future president’s economic analysis of poverty. George knows lazy.
He had just finished playing a year’s worth of hooky from the Alabama National Guard.

Thats really fantastic, though maybe he has reason to think so. I mean after all, Bush only had to be born and BAM instant millionaire. That easy! Those poor people must be really lazy to be so poor if money comes THAT easily, right? And to think he is a member of a party that throws around the word elietist.
