My husband's totally into Star Wars! He says 2002, but it could change. It's supposed to be the love story between Anakin and Queen Amidala. Boba Fett is supposed to be a major character. Mace Windu and Obi-Wan will also have large parts. Anyone else???

damn......... another love story, i hope its good, cause episode 2 wasnt great, it was cool though. but boba fett is good though, i herd that they were gonna have mara jade too.

that is all

Mace Windu and Obi-Wan will have LARGE PARTS?!? I've gotta SEE this! (Oooh, Obi-Wan! The force is strong in you!)

I know, I know. I've got a dirty mind. You should meet my boss. He's depraved.

Actually, Ol' Ben is my favorite character. I've also heard 2002.

dexter-Isn't Amidala a bit old for Anakin? I thought the magic was gone
in episode 2. Great for kids though.

I have also heard Star Wars 2 will be out in 2002 too.

everything is not what it
appears to be

At some point in Episode 2 or 3, I read that we will see a horde of Boba Fetts (Mandalorians?) Something on a planetary scale, I think. But that was in an anomalous promo magazine months before Episode 1 was released.

As for the 2002 date ... that seems about right for Lucas, except that rumors about Episode 1 started around '92, indicating a '95 release date. That, obviously, did not happen.

thx,

Sometimes, I wonder what will happen after Lucas is done with al 6 episodes. Will there be Star Wars, the Series? (ugh...) Will he (or someone else) just keep writing and filming more stuff (like the never-ending Star Trek?) Or will Star Wars just slowly fade and recede into the annals of entertainment history?

I can't understand why is everybody so excited about the SW. The old episodes 4,5 and 6 were ok, but rhis, first episode, was so boring, so stupid. When I left the cinema i felt a bit empty. I dont think that the next episodes will be better.
I wanna say, SW is not worth talking about.

Danis-Episode One was to set up the three that we all know and feel familiar with. I think where it had it's problem was that the public wanted to see Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. It's weird seeing things so out of chronological order, but if Lucas had run the firt episode first, you wouldn't have been excited enough to see the others.

As a writer, I'm eager to see the rest of the story. It's epic in proportion, regardless of flashy special effects. I'm also one of the strange people who has the patience to sit through a lengthy introduction. I find it interesting to compare the younger Obi-Wan Kenobi with "Old Ben", who is considerably wiser. I'd like to see the story continue to elaborate on his life experiences.

That's not to say that it shouldn't be replete with cool ships and lots of combat. I just wish they'd lose the cutesy-wutesy characters aimed at the toy stores' exhaust ports. (Come on. Were Jar-Jar and the smelly little Ewoks REALLY necessary?)

The ewoks were fine, as there was never an attempt to make them anything more than supporting characters (or comic relief). They also served a symbolic role (ie. the struggle between nature and technology).

Then again, ewoks are from my childhood, so perhaps only a child could ever like them. Then again, the Ewok Adventure was one of the more traumatic movies I ever saw. :) Of course, the Empire Strikes Back also gave me nightmares.

i know that the ewoks were in it for some special resons, but i dont get why they had them take on like 6 squads of imperial highly trained, the best of the best with all this armor and stuff (stormtroopers) and still these creepy little wanna be, short wookie creatures still over took them, with the help of their rocks. and luke want evan their to rescue them??? i dont get things like that in the star wars movie's, that is why i like the empire stikes back the most, because it is realistic.

that is all

Hate to bring this up, but the problem with SW:1 wasn't that it didn't have any familiar characters. SW:1 was aimed at children, and was poorly done so. Jara-Jar Binks was possibly the stupidest and most pointless character in the history of cinema. Anakin Skywalker should have been older (say 14ish) so that they could find an actor that wasn't so unbelievably bad.

Plus the plot sucked. There was no grand purpose to it, like in the other movies. I do not mean to suggest that every movie must have some grand message or purpose, but it has to have some. I mean, seriously, who wants to sit through 2 hours of a trade dispute? The evil jedi guys were a plus, but they had a grand total of what...20 minutes of screen time?

That movie blowed chunks, and the rest will too. George Lucas is going to feel obligated to include characters such as Jar-Jar Binks in the next 2 movies. If he includes dumbed-down cutesy characters, he will be forced to dumb down the entire movie.

I accept that movies are supposed to be fun, and that is all I expect from a movie. I am no Star Wars fan, and this newest installment made me actually dislike the series, not just have no opinion on it.

i agree about the plot, a trade federation attacking a little planet for no reson???i understand though that it was sopposed to be a first installment to tell storeys of the otherones, but george has turned soft.
