Have you ever received this error message? Apparently, it’s a program designed by Microsoft but it can also be malware or a virus, that uses this same extension to go “undetected.”

I’m thinking it’s a virus because I can’t use MS Word at all right now, without the error box popping up. Any thoughts?

google dwwin.exe You should be able to get help fixing it.
I did - wondering if anyone has any thoughts to it besides buying a program to install. (the advice online from my google search)

are you behind a firewall ?
it is trying to send your private information to some third party voyeur
maybe it is conflicting with your firewall

originally
back in thar good ol days
Dr Watson Application Program Debugger by Microsoft Corporation
was independent
now its(probably) simply written by any 2 bit hack that can do the cheapest job
it is attached to windows as an all in one

they own your operating system
they own your word processor program
it should be talking to both of them as a error checking tool

it is not uncommon for the Dr Watson program to freeze and lock the system up.

most likely is a system error possibly in version updates
or word or your os has hit a bad sector

the other option being possibly a trojan(hack tool which is poorly written) which windows and or your anti virus has frozen but cant isolate

back up allyour documents to removable HDD
removae it
then try un installing word & then re-installing it
then update it

if that doesnt work then do the same with your laptop operating system
but make a back up image first

have you installed a new tool bar to word recently ?
maybe downloaded a new font from somewhere ?
that might be the issue
if so
un install it
then as a precaution un install word then re-install word just to have a clean print of Dr watson and its required system attachments and debugging

keep in mind if your behind a business id expect to start to get hit quite hard in the coming months
its going to be a bit messy out there with the whole global thing going on
all the poor ol IT Techs are going to be earning their money for the next year thats for sure

fyi
i found a very widely downloaded youtube downloader program that has some typeof nasty stuff in it
hundreds of thousands of people have downloaded it
im not sure what it is because i cant code
but after trial and error i found that was crashing my system
who wrote it and who has access to back door it i dont know

You don't need to buy that program that you are referring to. I've had some problems with my computer. I replaced the keyboard which may have been the problem but I also installed that program.

You can download it for free. After it runs and finds everything to optimize it asks you to activate it. When you press the "activate" button it goes to a website and shows several prices. One is $14 for 3 months. I didn't do any of that. At the bottom it says says that if you want to activate manually (for free) press that button and it gives you an activation code. Cut and paste that in the program and you are good to go.

wegs,
is this on your personal computer or your work computer?
If it is your work 'puter, contact IT.
If it is your personal computer running windows 10, try this : Go to Settings / Apps - look for microsoft Office - select Modify - Repair
Let me know results...

unless you are running open office with all sorts of weird attachments and tool bars and a pirated copy of windows
in which case back up your hard drive urgently
LoL !

Thanks, everyone - it’s my work laptop, dmoe - I’m working from home and will try your suggestions tomorrow. Too lazy to fetch my laptop in my home office lol

Update - the program needs to be repaired so my firm’s IT Dept is working on it now. In sharing my screen, looks like it’s a matter of going under control panel and searching for the repair function, but it’s a bit more in depth.

Actually, ended up having to uninstall and reinstall MS Office and I’m grateful this happened. Now, everything is running faster and no further “not responding” messages. Things happen for reasons. ;)

It's God's will:)

but it’s a bit more in depth.
ms office has its own repair tools
but the windows operating system will have a better more complete set
some ms office repair tools will be dead ended by some errors

ur fresh install should have all the new updates and patches with it in one
rather than a car boot sale of add ons which it probably collected on top of your other issues over the last year or so
