I suggest you read the OP, SAM indicated the dog had behaviors that she did not like. Yes dogs to things for rewards. If you train a dog the behavior reward ratio is not one for one. The reward is being part of the pack. Do you think a working dog, let's say a sheep dog gets a direct reward for every command it obeys, NO.

Humans too do things for rewards. It would be an odd person indeed who does something without reward...either outward or internal (self) reward.

No it does not, but then again, it has already learned those commands.
You give a dog a one-for-one when you are training them. Once they start getting it down pat, then you give them a reward less and less.
Now, the reward can vary from dog to dog. My Doberman is heavily food motivated so he gets a snack reward. My Boxer is both food and praise motivated, so I can give her a treat or a lavish pat on the head when she does something right.
And even after they learn a trick down pat, it's still good for them to give them a treat every now and then.

My dog was very treet movated... an when she woud learn a simple trick i woud give her a treet... but after she learned several tricks she woud do as many as i comanded in a row an then i woud jus give her 1 treet.!!!

I learned to only try to teech her the mor complicated tricks for jus a few minutes at a time an to quit befor she got bored or frustrated... an switch to simple fun stuff she alredy knew how to do... an the amazin paart is... after a couple of houres i woud try teechin the mor complicated trick agan... an often times she woud surprize me by perty much doin the trick perfect wit little estra trainin needed.!!!

It worked bes to always keep tranin situatons fun for her.!!!

I absolutely hate dogs. First they lick their bottoms. And then they try with all their might to like your face. YUCK!

Do you know why dogs and cats lick their crotches?

    BECAUSE THEY CAN!!!

I think you're just jealous of their ability. I am. You wouldn't see me on here near as much if I had that ability.

Read all the quotes and consider the implications of the last two in reference to the first two.

I think dogs would be crazier than any other species because us humans treat them as people and it confuses the hell out of them.
