you are right the IRA have alot of terrible things but they had reason to fight back but not in this way. What if your country was run by people who discriminated for years gave you poor houses would nt hire you in a job and had the police and army beat you for no reason bloody sunday was a terrible act of terror and this was done by army officers

I think if you check your facts you will find that American suport for the IRA ended in the Clinton administration...not 9/11. And having wittnessed the fund raising activites they were never "for the IRA" although that may have been where the money ended up. Americans thought they were donating for humanitarian relief as that is how promoters were raising funds. They were telling donors that the funds were for humanitarian relief and not for acts of terrorism.

I think if you check your facts you are wrong.............

Link from sept 26 2001...

"Since then(9/11), the Bush administration has vowed to come down hard on terrorists operating in the US.

The president has enacted executive powers that allow for the freezing of all assets in the US of suspected Islamic terror groups.

While all American eyes are currently fixed on Muslim extremists, politicians in Northern Ireland have urged President Bush to extend the clampdown to those who raise funds for Irish paramilitary groups..

Humanitarian releif hahahaha you can't be that dim .....NORAID even admitted that the money they gave out didn't go to terrorist's but the families of terrorist....for health,education,utillities...while the terrorist's killed women and children the $$$'s looked after theirs

If you gave money to Noraid or any similar organisation you funded the killing of the innocent.......

Jack Holland said of the American stance on the british occupation was nothing more than 'Arcadian dreams of an Ireland of the past

Agreed but the army did not target women and children who were out shopping, the army targeted men who wanted to kill them.......

It's funny if the IRA'S gripe was with the british army and the british government why just target civilians -mainly women and children...

the bit about the housing and jobs...so if you thought that was OK (terrorism) than you must feel that it is also OK for Iraqi's and Afghani's to do the same thing...right

I could have sympathised with them if they had been honourable men, but as child killers I pity them

don't even think about saying people did not know where the money was going............that would be b*llsh*t,Ignorance or guilt

I just found this dated today(but its from 2005)....Clinton presidency hahahaha

The week that Irish America finally turned its back on Sinn Fein..
It's not just George Bush's America that is sick to death of the IRA and its Sinn Fein suffragettes. An awakened Irish-America is embarrassed, frustrated and shamed by the Provos' murderous criminality.

where does it say that...............?
the IRA got funds of the American people, visa's from sympathiser's...
Do you know who Pete King is...

ww.barber...Since the late 1970s, a Long Island congressman, Peter King, has been aligned with one of the most violent terrorist groups in recent European history, defying critics in his own Republican Party and elsewhere, and yet managing to prosper
A statesman allied to one of the most violent terrorist organisations in european history....nice

If we gave a visa to Bin ladens number 2 man and let him hold rallies and fundraisers amongst muslims..america would be in uproar...and that is about the same size smack in the face given by our so-called "Allies"

aah your on about the truth about america thread....duh I get it now...
I think the only thing I got wrong on that was that the IRA got guns from libya paid for by US dollars (not guns from the us)
why did the government give terrorist leaders visa's and let them hold fundraising events....but this is prob off topic

If the government did not know anything about it then explain....
In May 1981, the U.S. Department of Justice won a court case forcing Noraid to register the Provisional Irish Republican Army as its "foreign principal", under the Foreign Agents Registration Act 1938. A compromise was reached which allowed Noraid to include a written disclaimer against the court ruling stating the document had been signed under force and that Noraid maintained that the IRA was not its "foreign principal". Federal attorneys agreed to this, and Noraid resumed filing its financial returns in July 1984

p.s. and i've never said the government backed them...but they were aware, they maybe a lot of things but not stupid

Alright but you already got caught lying.

what are you on where...........?
You just can't accept the fact that the american people have given money freely to a voilent terrorist organisation....myles's post finished with "The problem is that it is not so easy to decide the difference betwen a terrorist and someone who sees himself as fighting for freedom."

It is really simple ..it depends if you support them or not.........
