Difficulties with signing in

Over the past few days, I've had to reset my password every time in order to sign in to this forum. I've tried variations as a work-around, like clicking not staying signed in for instance, but none seem to remedy the problem. I'm getting a 403 error whenever I attempt to sign in otherwise--that is, without going through the password reset process.

I've just gotten a new--well, newish, a refurbished late 2019 MacBook, as I refuse to ever give Apple a penny of my money--but I don't see how that could possibly cause problems of this nature. Also, I'm not having any problems of this sort with other sites--though I'm having a hell of a time getting Arduino software to operate correctly on this computer. May have to roll back some of their (Apple's, not Arduino's) pointless "updates" there. Any ideas?

Right now, I'm using a refurbished desktop that dates back to 2018, just old (or new?) enough to accept Windows 11. And I haven't experienced any problems signing in over the past week. I could try a more ancient one with Linux Mint installed on it, to see what happens. But it's kind of slow due to the mere 4GB RAM.

One quick thing to try is to use incognito mode in Safari, enter you info and if you don't get the error message you know it's something about your browser, cookies, something screwed up.

It might be worth a quick try.

Was gonna try this, but the problem seems to have resolved itself all of it's own. I'm going to hazard that our Benevolent AI Overlord overheard my complaint and set to fixing it right away.

Arduino also started working again, except it's not recognizing certain directories.

The Night of the Long Knives comment probably lit a fire under their butt. Problem solved...

I had the 403 message problem yesterday, but it resolved itself and I was only blocked until late afternoon. I was on Chrome. Deleted all cache, cookies, and browser info, but not sure if that was what fixed it. To avoid the annoyance of losing all my browsing history when I do a cleanup, I put the URLs I might really want later in Clipboard and then pin them there (otherwise clipboard deletes them every hour).

Think I found the fix. When you sign in, make sure you sign in at the homepage. I.e. don't start reading a thread and then try to sign in from there. I think that's what makes it balk. Last few times I've gotten the 403 error, I've backed out, and retried from the homepage, and that always fixed it.

Yeah. The problem went away but then it came back; however, signing in at the home page seems to remedy the situation.

Okay, I finally had the 403 error occur twice. Just takes time for the specious "update" bug to dispense to everybody, I guess. No option in "Preferences" for placing acceptance of the system modification on pause, till management corrects the programming fault. ;)
