Wrong.
That assumes that people have a choice in who they buy from.
Mostly they do.
People respond to incentives.
Mostly there is far more than one supplier that they can choose from.

I don't think depts. or firms need to hire 'Research" companies to find out which sites are the most popular. These sites are not hidden and a 10 second google search will result in dozens of articles and/or stat charts displaying the "best" or "most popular" torrent sites. (or they could simply ask their 16 year old nephew).
Stryder I think things here are okay as no one is advising or claiming to use these sites to download illegal material. I myself do not use it for these illegal purposes I am sure my use is legal.
I have made a home movie that shows my elbow over the course of a day. But using make-up, special effects and carefully chosen music, it appears that my elbow has aged two days as opposed to just one.
I have uploaded the file to a bittorrent and at the same time I am also downloading it. This has created an amazing event very close to that of shezers (sp) cat, where the torrent is in two states at the same time.
I can then sometime imagine the circular motion of the data as the children program magic roundabout and I can see dougal and zibberdy joyfully riding the data.
I am sure others here use the site for a simliar purpose.
