Anyone here use Demonoid?

I have for a number of years but since installing Vista it won't let me log on. I also try and join and now apprently they are not taking new members. It's is saying I am not a member when I know for a act I am.

I have heard a few rumours on how you can join, one was that you need an invite and other was that at certain times you are allowed to join.

Anyone know the true situation?
 
I heard that Pan but I tried last Friday and no luck, maybe I try this Saturday.
 
Demonoid rocks.
It has been having server issues lately.

The invite system is also still active, I believe.
 
I think they have a quota of members or something to keep from over running their trackers. Im not sure though. If youre sure youre a member send them an email with your logon issue. Demonoid is a good site. Theyre pretty good about filtering bullshit files out of the torrents they post.
 
I love demonoid I've been using it for 2 years. Does anyone have any idea what happened to demonoid? CAn't access it for the last 2 days
 
Indeed.

Demonoid has been down since Wednesday, due to the fact that they are geographically relocating. There was some legal pressure from the Netherlands Government, so they are relocating to Canada ( :) ).

Run a tracert on their IP... you'll see the site. Don't know when it'll be back up however....
 
Holy crap! Demonoid was forced to block Canadian traffic. This is what I get when I try to access the site:

"We received a letter from a lawyer represeting the CRIA, they were threatening with legal action and We need to start blocking Canadian traffic because of this. If you reside in Canada, that is the reason you are being redirected to this message. Thanks for your understanding, and sorry for any inconvenience. "

To avoid this you can use a proxy server that is somewhere else in the world. Most public ones are very slow through... there are some commercial ones but those are probably not worth it because of the costs. Or you'll just use another Torrent site. I'm not sure how they detect where your coming from? Probably your IP, if so, your fucked and you can only see the website through a proxy. Maybe you can use a proxy to download the torrent file and then download the contents of the torrents with your own connection. Maybe you can try changing your browser settings to the united kingdom or something, that probably won't work.
 
Yes, but how would I proxy my BT traffic? Anyway, I don't want to sacrifice browsing speed by using a proxy. Damn, I would donate a significant amount to help them fight or relocate their servers.

I think that torrent content data is sent from you directly to the other guy and vice versa. Then again, you probably need their tracker to initialize the downloads/uploads. Maybe they still allow access to that...

Anyway, I don't want to sacrifice browsing speed by using a proxy.

You'd only have to use the proxy while browsing demonoid
