For background, in 1965 I was given all forty volumes of The Congressional Investigation into the Attack on Pearl Harbor. A trusted neighbor told me I had to find the "smoking gun" that was certainly in there. I read the volumes over the next four years and had to tell him that I couldn't find any evidence of a conspiracy there.

"Well, I'll just have to keep looking."

Happily, I left for the Navy before he could find another ton of stuff for me to read. It did get me hooked on the topic, however.

Oh, and later on he told me that he, too, was a veteran, having served with George Washington at Valley Forge.
