Book Title(s)

Help me out here, gang.

I read a book, or perhaps a series of books many years ago, and I cannot remember the title(s) or author. The sci-fi story revolved around sentient space ships (somewhat ala StarQuest) and one of these ships was accused of murdering her pilot . One of the human characters was an arbiter, but the rest is fuzzy.

Anyone have an idea?

Cruiser Dreams
Earth Dreams

Now the sad part. They are out of print. Does any one have 'em on their bookshelves that might be willing to part with them?
