Yes. I am on a bit of a crusade to edumacate people about AI and other internet misinformation. I have a couple of threads here on SciFo about it.Off topic, but this is a HUGE problem. We can view using these tools (AI and suchlike) as roughly analogous to operating heavy machinery, driving a car, and so forth. Side by side comparisons would be futile and useless; nevertheless, there are consequences which can tremendously impact people's lives.
And it speeds up. What took 5 years to penetrate the public consciousness now happens in six months. That is how exploitation stays ahead of shrewdness. A little like how criminals stay ahead of police.I think the penny farthing bicycle metaphor from The Prisoner is apt here, in that these technologies are advancing far too rapidly for people to catch up, and learn how to use them appropriately, to properly contextualize the "fruits" they bear, and to adequately familiarize themselves with their limitations and shortcomings. It's dangerous.
