Banned members not crossed out

I thought banned members had the names under their avatars crossed out? Or is that only for perma-bans, and does not apply to temporary bans?

Here I find SciFo has seen an uptick in constructive contributions for almost a week, and I didn't even know it. Alas, it will be so for only 9 more days. So much time wasted!

???
Is there a point you are trying to make?
As in, are you claiming that you have been wasting time for a week, trying to figure out if "banned members had the names under their avatars crossed out"?
And, if so, do you plan on wasting "9 more days" time doing the same?

In the words of David Letterman : something about your Post seems "Hinky"...

I've been in active conversations where members have suddenly gone silent. I was under the distinct impression that, if that was the case, I would see a change of status in their Avatar.
Most fora I frequent have this feature.

Well...call me Betty and paint me ignorant!
SciForums is only "fora I frequent"...so, nope...I hadn't the foggiest...

As far as I'm aware, both permanent and temporarily banned members have their user names crossed out while they are banned.

I see no ''crossed out '' or other indication of permanent or temporarily banned, on the following currently temporary banned: Counter, Greatest I Am and the god.
Their user names look normal.

Weird... just to illustrate, can you show us a screenshot?

As an example - this is what I see when I look at one of Counters posts...

Huh... odd. I got nothing (then again, I have zero access to the backend systems to be able to triage this). James could possibly kick this up to the owners...?

Quite comical.
Oh God, The God is coming after 9 days, and my happiness as well as "uptick in constructive contribution" will vanish.

DaveC426913, that is very mean and distasteful on your part to create a thread to malign me like this. You will never succeed. I know Kittamaru will find the hidden unsaid meaning in my posts, but she will never see such blatant mean behavior.

You will, of course, support your assertion that Dave posted this to malign you - certainly you are not making unsupported, libelous claims against other members.

Please let me know why you are not able to figure out from OP second para?

Why don't you ask DaveC, if you cannot figure out the obvious.

I see no reason to do your homework for you, given it was your claim.

As it stands, this just looks like more trolling to me, and your inability to support your assertion against another member (and one who is in good standing with no infractions at all, unlike yourself) simply further evidences that. You are, in essence, pleading innocence after having repeatedly been caught with your hand in the cookie jar, and are now trying to blame it on the baker.

So, one last time - what proof do you have that DaveC was attempting to slander your character?

Why wouldn't one simply join a forum that suits those needs?
If I am driving a Mini Cooper, and I want to haul boulders, do I tell Mini to graft a flatbed onto my Cooper (at great expense and risk), or do I just go get a pickup? They're free!

I frequent three different science fora, each with distinct focus and tolerance levels.

SciFo, BTW, is way waaaay waaaaaaaay the most tolerant of them. Seriously, it is the science forumy equivalent of being so open as to let its member's brains fall out.

this is what you said on the other thread which was closed down though it is untrue. the 'way, waaay etc'.

case in point: https://physicsdiscussionforum.org/dishonest-moderation-on-sciforums-t1078.html

some members who are banned here are not banned or unwelcome in other science forums. so your assumption that this forum is much more liberal or open to looking at science from an unconventional angle is untrue

In any case, many moderators seem to simply enjoy the exercise of exclusionary power for the sake of forcing the kind of discussion they want. I won't say that I never exclude discussions based on weakness or insanity of their content, but I've been partial to this forum for years because it is only very rarely that aggressive exclusionary force comes into play between posters. Typically we can sort out why we disagree and at least understand why there's no convincing each other otherwise. The problem with excluding/banning someone permanently is that you never know what interesting ideas powerful, learned minds could come up with at a later time; which you would miss out on if you dismissed them for adhering to some idea that you really dislike at a particular moment in time.

this particular bit of that forum's moderation i whole-heartedly agree.

I'm afraid that doesn't make it untrue. You might want to check your logic.

If I were to say this bowl of granola contains way, waaaaaaaaay more nuts than these other bowls of granola, that does not imply there are no nuts in the other bowls.
