Ban Smoking Right Now

That's dumb. That's how they get their money. Everyone who goes to a hookah bar is there to smoke anyway. I don't smoke (i.e. I'm not addicted at all to nicotine) but I do enjoy my hookah, and I do know of a few hookah bars that got hurt when the regulations went into affect. They definitely take it too far.
Smoking and drinking go together like peanut butter and jelly. I occasionally smoke a cigar. A good one, like an Arturo Fuente or a Cuban. To avoid stinking up my own house, I'll usually go to a bar to smoke the cigar. In fact, when I'm in the mood for a cigar is about the only time I go to a bar. My town just banned smoking in all public places, so these bars have just lost my business.

Lousy safety Nazi's!

Whenever I read about people wanting to ban things, I keep wondering .....what if we ban anything and everything that some people want banned, or don't like? If that happened, what would we be allowed to do?

Personally I'd like to put people who don't flush public toilets - in jail for a GOOD LOOOOOOOOOOONG time.

yeah that is really disgusting when you have to .......sneak up to stall and slowly open the door.....bracing yourself as to what you might see....when you see that nasty site OMG:puke:

You still need to go but do you dare try another stall.......omg :puke: slightly better. At this point I really debate....how bad i have to go.....Finally i wait for someone to come out of one, if they were just in it hopefully it isn't too bad.....or are they some other disgusting pig:shrug:

Ahhhhhhh finally one that isnt too bad.....as i sit there I think what am i catching from this toilet seat? Finally I try not to touch to much and make my way to the sink.....

jeez maybe I should write short stories....

Too much money in tobacco for it to be banned. Smoking had been banned indoors in New York a few years ago but these days some people are violating the law and restaurant owners are sometimes looking the other way.

Incredible. I cannnot stand being in my own house because the asshole upstaris is smking in his bathroom. My ENTIRE FUCKING HOUSE smells like smoke. I have to leave my own house, because it's so disgusting. I have a son and a pregnant wife that are being poisoned because an asshole decided to poison himself.

Smoking should be BANNED. It's much worse then any other drug around, including illegal drugs. But the elite is just profiting too much for that to happen..... :bugeye:

Excuse me... I can't stay here....

Hi Truth seeker,

Thank yoj for starting this thread, aplogies for answering you initial post so late.

i Reckon the selling of tobacco shoudl be made illegal if not severly cut down to very select few shops.

I am a smoker, and i think i tis disgusting and the way the governement use it, is hypocrcy beyond limits.

I think it is inherently appauling that i can buy Cigarettes from more places on my way to work than i can paracetomal.

I want to sue the government for human rights abuses as whenever i try to stop i cant cos their are too many palces i can buy cigarettes from?

the governement should putits money where is mouth is and ban them

and with that i agree with you 100%

You mean like gay marriage? ;)

Yeah, sure, ...and anything and everything that anyone doesn't like or want. I mean, let's ban transfat oils, as well as any and all meat products ...'cause vegatarians don't like meat, or the animal rights activists don't like us killing and eating animals. And ban coffee 'cause some people don't like coffee and think that it causes health problems. Let's ban swim suits that don't cover the entire skin of the body, 'cause some people think that's nasty and perverted. Let's ban computers 'cause people play silly war and violence games on them. .....

The government can't get people to stop using more dangerous drugs. It can't get people to stop driving drunk. It can't keep drugs out of schools, hell it can't even keep drugs out of prisons. Is there any sane person who really believes that the damn stupid overpaid incompetent government is going to be able to stop people from smoking??? They tried outlawing alcohol in my country in my parents' era, and all it did was make alcohol more popular because it suddenly became cool.

People are going to do what they want. It's the government's job to facilitate that, not to tell them that they're wrong. This is the same government that dumps sodium fluoride into our water supply on purpose. Do you really trust these bureaucrats to make decisions about our health???
LOL! :D
True....

Yes. Do you understand the dangers of an out-of-control, too-big-for-its-britches government?
Absolutely.

They are incapable of doing a competent risk analysis when deciding what they're going to do to us--whoops I mean "for us"--in the name of health and safety. They've got leering civil "servants" staring at our bodies through x-ray machines in airports--meanwhile something like 90% of the containers that come into the U.S. on ships is not examined.
I suppose they are focused on protecting passengers. But, yeah... I know...

As I said, I'm not a strong supporter of smoking in public. But a man's home is his castle. So don't let people smoke in public, except in places set aside for communities of smokers.

Settle down Beavis. We're talking about a citizen smoking inside his own home, not out in public.
This is a non-smoking apartment building. And his smoke was affecting me and my family.

Well then he's already breaking the law. In the U.S., the landlord would be held responsible for allowing a violation of a health law and subjected to a heavy fine. No, I'm not a smoker. I don't allow smoking in my house. I only rent to non-smokers. But they're free to go out and smoke on the balcony, on the deck, or in the yard, as long as they don't stand outside my window and do it. I'm just a guy who respects freedom. I'll support somebody else's if they support mine.
Fair enough.

You haven't read very many of my postings if that's the kind of person you think I am. I'm very impatient with the people of my generation. They're selfish, irrational, and whiney. Not to mention grumpy like the Baron. :) I much prefer the company of young people and I play in a rock and roll band, performing the music of Fall Out Boy, the Killers and Green Day. And in general young people appreciate me. For one thing, I don't bitch at them about their smoking.
That's good. But what about your comments of young people being irresponsible? Were you just generalizing or... what?

If you think young people are wise enough to make their own choices and old people don't care... Then why do you want to entrust so many of the important things in life to governments??? Governments are run by old guys like Max and me!
I most certainly don't trust the government.

lol fraggle, you just seemed to come off quite stuck up and snooty in your last postings, i respect your last post alot though, i was not generalising about older people, i respect age but i dont respect age as much as wisdom, put age and wisdom together and thats something i respect the most.
EXACTLY. Unfortunately, a lot of old people use their age as an excuse to abuse or criticize young people. They say they are "wise" becasue they are old, basically. Like a quasi-fanatic catholic I once lived with...

i get what your saying about smoking in your own home, and i think aslong as you dont make other people breathe in your fumes then its fine, but if your smoke is causing other people ahrm then thats not right, as for in public i guess itsa different story, but this thread is titled (ban smoking right now) so i thought that it was open to debate also,

peace.
Yes.

Tell your neighbour to put a plastic bag over his head while he smokes...secured at the neck with rubber tubeing.

He can poison himself faster that way, without irritating others.
That should be law.

:D

Where I live it's illegal to smoke in any public place. That includes bars, restaraunts, public buildings, within 20 meters of the entrance to any public building, outdoor patios at bars/restaraunts, even the shisha bars have had to switch to non-tobacco products. Personally I think they're taking this a little too far, it should be left up to the owners of establishments like bars to decide whether or not to allow smoking in them.
Where is this advanced society?

Whenever I read about people wanting to ban things, I keep wondering .....what if we ban anything and everything that some people want banned, or don't like? If that happened, what would we be allowed to do?

Baron Max
Eat and sleep.

they should ban ciggaretes in ireland :D its good bussiness to bring fags into ireland and sell them cheapper by making 100% profit :)

No. Just ban completely. Period.

What else should people not be allowed to do? Dude, you should have gotten an education and a better job before you started pumping out babies---or your wife to start pumping out babies, so you could live and raise children on your own terms, and wouldn't have to deal with people "blowing toxic fumes" in your children's faces. It's your fault. At least take some responsibility.

I'm very educated, I support myself and I have no babies, I have an apartment in a quiet nonsmoking neighborhood. That did not stop the man standing next to me at the bus stop from blowing a mouth full of cigarette smoke in my face. If he was standing with a glass of alcohol or smoking weed (which would mostly affect him) I could have held him liable, but strangely enough, cigarette smoking is a state sanctioned drug industry, so I could only hold my breath and move away.
