You don't need a "program".
You are a society, so what do you have to offer that is not available ?
I think that the assertive atheism that you see these days is a response to the equally aggressive theism, especially the islamic variety. They seem keen that everyone should live according to their beliefs, so it's time to stand up and say, 'Get lost', or words to that effect.
The defeat of a threat to their wellbeing. Remember, these "attacks" on God are almost exclusively in self-defense against some movement out to teach Creationism in biology class or ban homosexuals from marrying. I think most atheists would be content in letting others believe whatever the hell they pleased, so long as it didn't affect them negatively. Keep it out of our classrooms, our government, and our laboratories, and I could give two figs where you think we came from.
No programs, but you live in a society today founded on secular values.

In all fairness, most atheists are not so much interested in "discrediting" people who believe in God, as much as they just don't want believers preaching and/or "forcing" their beliefs upon them. (and society)
arauca, of the atheists who I know personally, they don't give too much thought to the beliefs of others. Unless those beliefs of others impact their lives or society in an adverse way, they don't spend much time dwelling on the religious differences and beliefs of those around them.
They are busy living healthy, happy lives.

Let's say that you don't play golf. What do you have to offer those who play golf? You don't need to offer them anything. You just don't care about golf and are tired of hearing about golf.
How old is secularism in this country ?
Now when you are amending how marriage should be ( between same sex couple ) then you are attacking the present religious belief, and you have attacked it in a big way. For hundreds of years no on bothered you how you screw each other that is your business , but you resided to promote your promiscuity for the society as a whole., So who is attacking who ?

For hundreds of years no one bothered gays? That's ridiculous. Who cares if something is attacking religious belief? Society doesn't need to take into account your religious belief. That is your problem.
They absolutely can, but they shouldn't try to push those beliefs on everyone else. Religion is like sex: it should be done in private by consenting adults.

Actually same-sex marriage is legal here and is often performed in churches. If you want to amend the law to force it to be more like you think marriage should be, you are going to have a lot of people very mad at you.
?? For hundreds of years gays were arrested, jailed and even executed for the 'crime' of loving someone of the same sex. It's only in the past 50 years or so that gays have been able to live their lives without such threats from religious types.

So what? Anyone concerned with social justice advocates for equal rights among all people. You have the right to believe what you want, be the rest of us are changing the rules. Deal with it.

What possible negative consequences could there be? It won't change the number of homosexuals in society, it won't affect straight marriages, it won't affect what churches consider marriage. You are under the delusion that if society accepts homosexuals, then there will be more of them. All that is being promoted, apart from rights, is commitment, which is good for society, and good for families. These people have families you know.
