... and now a message from Kansas

Once I rose above the noise and confusion
Just to get a glimpse beyond the illusion
I was soaring ever higher, but I flew too high

Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a madman
I hear the voices when I'm dreamin'
I can hear them say

Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Now don't you cry no more

Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
It surely means that I don't know

On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune, but I hear the voices say

Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you

Kansas - Carry On Wayward Son.

I'm tired, if I eventually read the lyrics I'll post thoughts or comments tomorrow. Just letting you all know it's a song. My old buddy Google told me that. He's well versed in the arts (among other things).

That's one of the big hits on the "classic rock" stations, from 1976. Kansas was one of the few American "progressive rock" bands, a movement centered in England. The album, "Leftoverture," is a concept album, best heard as a continous opus. This probably sounds unbelievable in an era when MTV has trained Americans to have 15-second attention spans.

I find it disappointing that everyone didn't realize that they were the lyrics to that particular song right away :/ I mean I'm a young guy, too, but I've heard that song about fifty thousand times. What's your excuse?

"Once I rose above the noise and confusion

I believe this means that sometimes we get to close to the real truth about what is really going on that we shouldn't see certain things that would make us lose our hope to think we are in contol but we really aren't.

"Though my eyes could see I still was a blind man
Though my mind could think I still was a madman
I hear the voices when I'm dreamin'
I can hear them say"

This could nean that we may think we know whats happening but we really don't for deception is all around us and we must beware.

"Carry on my wayward son
For there'll be peace when you are done
Lay your weary head to rest
Now don't you cry no more"

I would think this is about death.

"Masquerading as a man with a reason
My charade is the event of the season
And if I claim to be a wise man
It surely means that I don't know"

I think this shows that to be a wise person is to never know it all, always be learning and studying everything for only fools know it all.

"On a stormy sea of moving emotion
Tossed about, I'm like a ship on the ocean
I set a course for winds of fortune, but I hear the voices say"

This is about starting out on your own in lifes adventure when you leave the comforts of your own home where you were raised to sek your own life and fortunes.

"Carry on, you will always remember
Carry on, nothing equals the splendor
Now your life's no longer empty
Surely heaven waits for you"

This is about your trip through life and what you may encounter but always remember that death is right around the corner so JUST DO IT NOW!
