This is the rebirth.

Question:
What is ambition? What spawns ambition? How do we lose ambition? How does one degenerate from ambition to idleness?

I would answer your last question by saying that when someone sets their sights on one thing (a main goal), then what may be seen as misguided, might not be so. A 'degeneration' of ambition may just be a lack of motivation, due to a lack of reward, or need.

TheRebirth, you should decide what your life goals are. I think that is most important. :)

Alcohol, weed, etc can all cause idleness.

"life goals" If my life goal is constant idleness, how does that answer anything about ambition?

What is ambition? I am not sure

What spawns ambition? I do dont know

How do we lose ambition? Many factors: emotional distress, physical distress, political distress, etc

How does one degenerate from ambition to idleness? This question is working on the assumption that idleness is of more value than ambition. If this holds true, then I must say that a 'degeneration' in ambition is caused by a shifting ambition.

Envy, Greed, Love, Money (Tangible greed) and others....

How do we lose ambition?

Well the majority of us; when we see the first obstacle standing in our way

How does one degenerate from ambition to idleness?

Drink and beer and light a blunt.....

I'm too idle to give a serious answer. Maybe I have lost my ambition after all...
The important question now is how to get it back?!

Ambition is the will to being. It is what drives a superbeing from the mud where lessers fight to keep him.

Ambition is that drive that pushes you forward, but it can also wear you out. It often comes from wanting something more—recognition, success, or simply filling a void. But you can lose it when what once motivated you no longer feels important. Failures, exhaustion, or realizing that ambition doesn't always bring happiness can make you give up. Instead of striving for something, you end up stuck, choosing comfort over effort. Life just changes your priorities, and what once seemed so crucial might lose its shine.

Threads should probably self lock or something after a year of dormancy.

Welcome to sciforums!

It's great that you decided to sign up to post on this topic, but the last time anybody else posted in this thread, before you, was back in 2003.

I think it's probably best to start this one with a clean slate. Feel free to start a new thread. You can even repost your reply from here, if you like.

This thread is now closed.
