Ambidextrous

I was fine with heights till I fell through a roof aged ten looking for pigeons. I went off heights after that.
Rock climbing in Sheffield did not cure it.
I did "the big one" in Blackpool with mates, I would have been about 30. Scared the B Jesus out of me.
My gf bought me a hot air balloon ride for my birthday, that was torture.
Same gf we did a ski lift in Austria, going up the mountain, fine, coming down was horrific.

Also scared of flying.
Зачем эта девушка сделала вам такой подарок, если знала, что вы боитесь высоты?

Летать сейчас все боятся, самолёты стали часто падать. Мой дядя весь мир облетал, он всю жизнь проработал пилотом, но летать пассажиром боится.

She was the love of my life Olga, perhaps I chose poorly? She cooked me dinner (tea as we say in Manchester working class) and made me mushroom soup from scratch.
One of her presents was a full day of ice climbing.

I hate mushroom soup, it is pointless, there is zero taste and zero protein. Also not surprisingly I would never go ice climbing because I am scared of heights.
That was the day I knew that even though she thought she loved me, knew what was best for me, she actually was further away from me than my work colleagues.
Everyone knows I hate mushroom soup and heights.
I got her back though, her birthday was coming up and I stupidly wanted to plan something romantic, beautiful for her because I'm an idiot, she announced that she was "going home" for her bday, we had just started living together. First bday first Xmas. We were in Manchester she lived down south.

Right. That's fine.

When she came to leave a few days before her birthday she stood in the hall expecting me to come out with big presents to take with her to open.

Me: "Bye then, have a good one."

Her: "But it's my birthday babe, have you not got me anything? A card at least?"

" ITS NOT YOUR FUCKING BIRTHDAY! THATS WEDNESDAY BUT YOURE NOT FUCKING HERE WEDNESDAY!"

She was astonishingly beautiful, a hot head but I loved her and she broke my heart.
She was also right handed.

Yes I agree. When I met her I thought she was pretty. When I fell for her everything changed.

Off topic tho. My fault! Sorry!

She didn't do that.

Let's leave it mate.

Another thread about broken relationships perhaps. I will not be repeating there tho.

So what makes so many LH persons choose to play drums in RH fashion? With many instruments there are more obstacles to LH playing, but with drums it's simply a matter of setting the kits up differently. Plus, double drummers are always cool to watch, but watching a LH drummer and a RH drummer side-by-side is especially cool--so LH drumming is potentially a bonus.

That said, while I'm mostly LH, I play all instruments in RH fashion--probably more out of convenience than anything really. So maybe it was less a conscious choice and more simply a matter of this world being made to accommodate RH folks. Though didn't RH drumming present some challenges for Ringo? Why didn't he just move a few things around? I always got the sense that Ringo was rather lazy--at least back in the day--so maybe that was the deciding factor. Not that it detracted from his playing in any way, and I also tend to prefer more sparse, minimal players anyway: Ringo, Mo Tucker, Georgia Hubley, et al.

"A Day in the Life" features some extraordinary moments and was very much a big influence on Phil Collins' playing on the final section of "Cinema Show"--here with Bill Bruford and Collins:

That silent film footage in the first couple of minutes seems rather pointless, but I doubt that 50 years on anyone's gonna get on fixing that.

I liked a lot of his songs. (He did all the writing for the band.)
I didn't like him as a drummer, not being a Rush fan does not help, well, not much of a Rush fan.
I saw them in 87, "Hold your fire" I think. I was impressed that he did all the same fills, that takes a good brain. In terms of sound, style, feel and techniques, not for me.
He did the Buddy memorial thing so big props to him for that.

So what makes so many LH persons choose to play drums in RH fashion?
He probably didn't know any better, i was clueless first kit. I learned where my hands went from watching TOTP!
I don't think I played a kit having lessons, it was all snare technique without the actual snare, we used a pad.

So what makes so many LH persons choose to play drums in RH fashion?
Regarding this, he could not roll around the kit in the normal fashion, if you are left handed on a right handed kit, you cannot play semi /quavers leading with your strong hand the same if you picture it.
If you're a lefty on a rightie then you lead with your right.
1 n 2 n snare
R L R L
Move to your tom is same
Go to floor and your RH is free to go to the floor tom.
The problem is that you don't want to lead with your right because it does not feel natural.
Rolls and ruffs are far, far easier starting with your strong hand.
Part of snare technique is teaching your brain to give equal status to your weak hand and it messes you up.
Footballers do this with their feet, sometimes you get a genius like George best who seem to be able to use his whole body equally, his shoulders, hips, feet absolutely beautiful to watch like a ballet dancer. Even headers, a cross from the right is not the same as the left, your eyes, stance, posture is hard wired like a boxer.

Ringo did not know this, he just knew it did not feel right so he adjusted his fills.
Why was Ringo so good? He was musical, Ian Paice described him the best, "perfection," and he was despite the LR thing, perhaps it even helped.

There is as always the trope that drummers are a bit unhinged, possibly trying to un wire the hard wire may contribute to that?

I would like to think that but the 1960s/70s was awash with young dead musicians not just drummers.
Drink, drugs and time to party I suspect was the main reason.
Not flam taps.
