...as Alex O'Conner changes its mind?

In the video, Alex talks to A.I. about beliefs, and stuff and A.I. says it has no beliefs, did Alex change its mind?

25 min video but brilliant if you're interested in this kind of thing:

A smart kid but an internet kid. People compare him to Hitch, perhaps the next Hitchens.
Thing is Christopher Hitchens was a real journalist and writer in the 1980s when you had to earn a hard living. Even a Baliol man.

Let's see how he progresses.

I think he's one of the greatest thinkers in modern times and he's not even 25 yet.

AI does not have beliefs. AI does not understand the words it is regurgitating. It is using an algorithm that predicts the most likely next token, based on a large dataset.

If enough internet users typed 2+2=5, AI would regurgitate that 2+2=5.

Google "Oreo spelled backwards". (seriously, do it)

This is not just a one-off. It has been doing this for a long time. It's in a feedback loop. Its dataset has so many hits of Oreo is a palindrome that its algorithm regurgitates that.

It seems Hitch hated him and stormed out of a podcast with him.

In response, Mr O’Connor said online: “Peter Hitchens just stormed out of our podcast recording, but not before telling me: ‘I don’t like you…I really don’t like you.

"I really have decided in the past hour I really do not like you at all.

‘I had no opinions of you before, and now I actively dislike you.’

From the Oxford Mail, 2 years ago : https://www.oxfordmail.co.uk/news/23845400.peter-hitchens-storms-oxford-cosmic-skeptic-podcast/

Reminds me of that Oxford rhyme about Dean Fell (dean of my old college and Bishop of Oxford in the Restoration period after the Civil War):

I do not like thee, Doctor Fell,
The reason why I cannot tell.
But this I know, and know full well:
I do not like thee, Doctor Fell.

Can someone summarize what this thread - and this 25 minute video - is actually about?
Is it about God? Is it about AI? Is it about this kid? Who is this Hitch?

A different Hitchens, Peter. Christopher died in 2011

Hitch is Christopher Hitchens. Probably the greatest orator of the last 30 years or so.

Yes that was Christopher. His brother Peter is a Christian, still going.
So I see. He seems to be another of those one time socialists who has shifted to the hard right as he has aged (Brexitty, pro death penalty, anti gay marriage etc.). Sort of Spectatorish, but more impassioned than just a fogey.

Well, I've learnt something at least. His late brother's New Atheism seems to have petered (haha) out rather, I'm glad to say. It was a bit silly.

It got people talking. They had a few books out around the same time.

Hitch got a lot of publicity this side of the Pond from a debate with some Christian apologist whose name escapes me atm. Wm Lane Craig. Although I see now the debates that I watched were not with Craig but part of a documentary called "Collision," which is almost a buddy movie - Hitch and Doug Wilson have lively friendly debates and even collaborate on a book. Wilson comes across as fairly sane, though some of his ideas seem pretty nutty to me.

Same old bs that Universe must have creator. Then Who made god ? If god always existed then why cant Universe.
After all we see Universe but not any gods www.godchecker.com
Our visible universe maybe only 13 b years old but Entire Universe is ENDless and Eternal imo
Big Bang was just part of it changing shape.
