A Bottle of Tequila

I haven't consumed any alcohol for several years, not because it was a problem, but because I simply had no interest. In celebration of a birthday, I purchased a bottle of tequila. I haven't had much, sipping a little from a tumbler since I brought it home. I've got a mellow buzz going on here, and it's quite pleasant. I'm thinking I might pick up some reefer at the local dispensary tomorrow, being that I haven't smoked any in years, just out of curiosity.

I don't know. While I was on probation and homeless, I figured it unwise to partake in recreational drugs, but I really didn't have much interest anyway, so it was easy to avoid. If someone wanted to trade me some smoke for tobacco, I would give the weed to someone who did smoke.

1/3 off the bottle gone, I think I might stop with the tumbler and give it a break. The thing about tequila, it's easy to drink, but if you're not careful, it can sneak up on you.

Thank you Jose Cuervo Especial. It was a mellow night thanks to you. :)

I tend not to drink spirits of any kind. Mostly because I don't like them, but also 'cos I'd probably drink too much, as my drink-to-mouth lifting habit is based on beer, and to an extent wine, so I'd find a shot too quick and would refill too often. Fortunately I detest whiskey/whisky/bourbon and any similar stuff, and like Tequila, they at least have the decency to have a taste to put me off drinking it! I did do so, though, in my youth, and I do recall a bottle of something (no idea what it was) having a dead lizard in it (that was its selling point!!).

Were you in Thailand? They have a potent rice whiskey called Yaa Dong which contains a dead lizard that's supposed to enhance the whiskey's spiritual powers. (unlike the dead worm in Tequila which was just added to show the proof was high enough to preserve a worm)

Horrific stuff. The person who invented tequila did not like people.
It's awful. So much so that peer pressure couldn't compel me to take more than a few sips, and then go hunt down a beer to kill the aftertaste.

My drinking days (brief) mostly ended after trying a gut-destroying libation called Wild Turkey. The nausea was exquisite, the hangover deathly. And there were definitely no wild turkey parts in the bottle.

Yeah, I'm thankful that I figured out fairly early on in life that I really do not care at all for alcohol--it seems a rather pricey pastime, in several respects. If for some reason I were compelled to drink beer or wine, I could manage it--I just don't like it, but I can tolerate it; the other stuff I find only slightly less palatable than isopropyl. Acquired tastes are fascinating. I think no matter how much or how gradual the habituation and conditioning, I would never find it unlike isopropyl.

I drank a lot of Wild Turkey one night in Huddersfield. The results were not good.
Not touched it since.

Never been to Thailand. It was a friend who brought it back, but I'm struggling to remember where they went to. Maybe Japan? But it may have been Thailand. Sooo long ago! ;)

I was in Okinawa some years ago, their favorite Sake (Habushu) is made from one of their most poisonous snakes which they insert and coil up in the bottle. The alcohol apparently renders the snake venom safe.

I like wine. I spend quite a bit on it, although can still manage to pick a bottle that I dislike for what I'm eating. And I do tend to drink more than I should. Not massively so (although the UK continually reduce their guideline maximum units/wk - and I haven't really kept up with those reductions!!) but enough that I'm careful not to drink more than I do. But, heck, I do actually like a good bottle of wine with good food and/or good company. :)
