Hi. I'm strugging to find hard science amonst all the hype surounding 3I/ATLAS. Todate this is the best overview I have found I would be very interested to hear your thoughts.

I have not been following this. Interesting about nickel carbonyl. One might expect iron carbonyl as well, but as this does not form as readily as Ni(CO)4, perhaps that’s why we don’t see it.Hi. There has been some discussion of this object in the UFO thread - Avi “Frontal” Loeb well to the fore as ever, though a bit more circumspect than he was over Omm-mwah-mwah, on which I gather he went apeshit.

Quite so. It's on a hyperbolic orbit with respect to the sun so will pass through the solar system and out. I expect as our telescopes get better we will indeed see more of these objects from outside our solar system. I don't think we can say much more about it now though. We may get more data as it approaches perihelion.3I/ATLAS chemical composition is interesting and it being interstellar in origin is fascinating.
I suspect comets like this, Yes a comet , it appears to have conventional tail, now pointing away from the sun , will become like Exoplanets you find one or two and soon they are everywhere.
I'am aware of other posts in a different thread . I would like this thread to concentrate on it being an extremely interesting comet. I have a very open mind towards an alternative approach to things, but in this case I'am on the side of a conventional approach.
