Apart from Hendrix, I don't recall the other two making such an impact. Anyway, what's with the monotheism?Originally posted by GuitarToadster
seriously, if Clapton is God then so is Santana, Hendrix, Duane Allman and a handful of other guitarists
B. B. King is a legend in his style. However, that takes nothing away from Clapton's uniqueness as a player. King can't make it talk like Clapton and vice versa. King isn't 'better' than Clapton, although he is better than all of his copycats - as is Clapton. As for talking axes I believe B.B. King has that distinction (the crown anyway).
Malmsteen shreds so great that nobody can touch him at what he does. He is great at playing in his style, just as Clapton, Hendrix, and very few others are for the same reason.if you listened to more of the "shredding" guitarists you would find that they too can play it slow and soulfull... they simply prefer not to.
Big names, big impacts, but not as big as Clapton's (even the wonderful SRV!). You say you don't get as much feeling from Clapton, I say you're being too subjective - even for this type of conversation!I never felt Capton to be much of a "deep feeling" type of a guitarist. I get that more from B.B. King, SRV, Santana, Duane Allman, Dickey Betts, and a large number of other blues players
I agree totally! Although I would've said Eric, SRV and EddieOriginally posted by Galt
