Google Cardboard, a cheap $20 way to turn your smartphone into a simple Virtual Reality headset, gave cardiac surgeons the perspective they needed to repair four-month-old Teegan Lexcenher’s heart and lung.
They fist made a 3-D model of Teegan’s heart using computer scans of the baby’s heart and lung. Since the hospital’s 3-D printer was down, one of the doctors used an app called Sketchfab, to download images of Teegan’s heart and lung onto his smartphone. They were then able to look at 3D images using Google Cardboard, which look like toy goggles that gave them needed perspective.

Good for them!

Just goes to prove that old adage that necessity is the mother of invention.
