I looked it over and think there are certainly a few scientists on the list and certainly a few who are not scientists.

I did find one climate scientist so that was encouraging.

Anyways the good thing is we now have a list so folk who feel inclined can go thru and consider if the claim that the list is of scientists is a reasonable description.

Hmm. I found scientists and PhD students (scientists in training.) Many of the scientists are in fields outside climate change (like sociology) but the original article never claimed they were all climate change scientists.

Hmm. I found scientists and PhD students (scientists in training.) Many of the scientists are in fields outside climate change (like sociology) but the original article never claimed they were all climate change scientists.

Well I have printed out the list and I am going thru it making notes and googling each person and will be sending them emails to get details of their degrees and write a book about my findings...shall I set a copy aside for you...after lunch.

The article claimed scientists for sure I think we can agree upon that.

Personally if I were running their show I would have gone for quality not quantity and simply listed scientists working in climate science and avoid the obvious critism.

By looking at the title along side the name.
It's easy. Look at a name and move your eyes to the right and you get their job description. I couldn't see any reference to degrees but I will look again. That would be nice and expected...just a little BS (Bachelor of Science) for example rather than say manager or the area they work in...and if it is a student perhaps their field.
But look I don't want to spoil it for you read thru the list and please tell me your impression and if you think the claim of 11000 scientists has been met now that we have got Mickey out of the way.

Let's imagine we have a similar letter from the other side effectively claiming the opposite and they attract the very same list claiming it is a list of scientists...each of us can then ask ourselves how we would respond if our opponents effectively did the same.

I don't think they "went" for anything. They sent out a letter to scientists (and PhD students) and said "sign if you agree with this."

Maybe we are talking about different things.. The way I thought it went was the web site refered to earlier put up an invitation for people to put their names up..which was a receipt for disaster if not srutinized ..hence a the Mickey Mouse problem.
If they solicited individuals as you suggest all I can say is that I did not realise that was done. The site suggests it happened the way I thought and if you look there is an indication that they plan another letter for ordinary folk.

If you do you will notice where my impression was formed.

There is a consensus among climate change scientists [1], just as there is consensus within the scientific community (which the 11,000 signatures indicates).. In other words, there is scientific consensus about climate change in general.[2]

It was never about a scientific consensus Bells it was about whether or not they had 11,000 scientists and even now with what I presume is a revised list I don't if that claim is valid but at least and they got rid of Mickey Mouse.

All I found was the site on both attempts...And think about it...why would I still ask for a list of it was before me..I will do this when I get home..I will follow your links again..first on my phone and then via my lappy and report back if the list now appears..but I assure you the first time I saw the list was when I followed Billvons link...it came as a PDF...so I can browse no problems.
Maybe I can cut and paste a section to show how folk have described their job or qualifications.
